Our expectations

Reporting to the Manager, Capital Asset and Project Accounting, the primary role of the Analyst, Project Accounting is to act as an expert in their field of expertise and to provide support to the stakeholders of the organization. Responsibilities include project accounting management, work-in-progress transfers to assets, and project creation. The analyst will be required to master and apply U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (US GAAP) and International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) in preparation for an upcoming transition. The analyst will contribute to the preparation and reliability of financial information, while analyzing the balance sheet and income statement.

Your role

• Provide guidance to adequately code spending to all projects PO preparers of the organization
• Analyze monthly results/variances, prepare journal entries, and establish month-end accruals
• Prepare and document the reconciliation of the Project Accounting module to general ledger
• Manage project administration (projects creation, budget validation, approval process)
• Assist in maintaining projects and fixed assets reviews schedule and approvals (capital vs. expense classification, in-service dates, reconciliations, action items, authorization, and reporting)
• Ensure that internal controls are appropriate and fully respected
• Become the super-user of financial modules Project Accounting and OTL (Time and Labor)
• Be the reference to ensure proper accounting treatments fully compliant with US GAAP (and eventually IFRS) in regards of Project Accounting
• Assist their manager to conduct monthly WIP review with the FP&A projects team and other relevant stakeholders from all departments
• Lead or assist in ad hoc and special requests (project labor request, project reporting, process automation/optimization, and projects)

The Qualifications We Are Looking For

• Experience in retail industry (strong asset)
• Comfortable to work with multiple IT Systems (Oracle/EBS will be considered a strong asset)
• Ability to multitask and work under pressure in a fast-paced changing environment
• Mastery of MS Office applications, particularly Excel, advanced level
• University degree in business administration, accounting, finance, or economics
• Ability to establish positive working relationships with all collaborators
• Business acumen, ability to understand and interpret complex themes
• CPA designation or in the process of obtention (required)
• Minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience
• Strong analytical skills, rigor and ability to synthesize information
• Knowledge of US GAAP and IFRS, including work experience (required)
