Your Role


Gensler’s Toronto office seeks a creative storyteller for our Public Relations & Marketing efforts. Ideal candidates have a passion for design and view communications as a people-centered activity. PR & Marketing Specialists are producers of materials that support Gensler’s business development and promotional efforts. They work under the direction of senior staff and marketing and PR leaders to write, design, and produce proposals, presentations, and other material used to help the firm win work, as well as support media outreach, events, speaking engagements, awards submissions, and other PR functions for the office.


Successful candidates will join a team of skilled communicators in a dynamic office. Our next PR & Marketing Specialist will be a natural collaborator, eager to lend a hand, an idea, or a well-timed gif for morale. What You Will Do


Public Relations


  • Proactively secure media coverage and respond to inbound inquiries, with the ability to manage multiple opportunities at once
  • High-level counsel and strategic leadership, liaising with a firmwide network of PR staff
  • Track PR and engagement metrics to inform future strategies and tactics
  • Guide high-level decision making with experience in PR risk issues and developing scenarios
  • Work with office and regional leadership to develop and implement a PR strategy and external campaigns for Gensler Toronto
  • Monitor and respond to the news cycle as it relates to our work outside of business hours, as needed
  • Act as a strategic communications partner to clients and ensure content supports both business goals
  • Develop executive communications and positioning for office and design leaders
  • Create compelling thought leadership content with key messaging, presentations for speaking engagements, content for brand publications, website content, award submissions, and sharing through external channels across the firm
  • Understand our firm’s portfolio in detail, including practice areas and service offerings, and actively seek firm's best practices in office communication efforts
  • Bring, build, and establish relationships with local media outlets covering development, design, business, and innovation
  • Commit to meaningful internal collaboration and client service in a fast-paced environment while remaining poised under pressure


Marketing


  • Develop new materials as needed to support business development activities
  • Understand and learn Gensler’s portfolio of work, practice areas, and capabilities
  • Maintain resources & information systems
  • Develop and craft case stories, resumes, project text for website, and other written marketing/PR collateral
  • Work with principals, senior staff, and other marketing team members to design, write, and produce proposals, presentations, and other marketing collateral in alignment with brand standards
  • Participate in pursuit strategy and planning
  • Work closely with other marketing team members to complete special projects, elevate the quality of our efforts, and plan office events
  • Perform multiple marketing efforts under rapid and frequent deadlines


Your Qualifications


  • Teamwork: Works well as a member of a team, mentor, go-to resource, forward-thinking go-getter. Ability to “make it happen” and create workarounds where needed
  • Proven ability to effectively manage time and schedules and perform under deadlines
  • Media: Established editorial relationships in design, business, innovation in Toronto and beyond
  • Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Business, Architecture, Interior Design, Graphic Design, Communications or Marketing (or other related field)
  • 8+ years of professional experience in a marketing or PR position with a design or professional services firm
  • Communications: Excellent communication, writing, editing, conceptual design skills
  • High-level of competency in InDesign and Microsoft Office is required
  • Experience managing PR and Communications projects independently, collaboratively, and closely with senior leadership
  • Software: High level of competency in Microsoft Office, Adobe Creative Suite
