Position Summary

The Sherritt Growth projects team is actively looking for a rotational Project Manager to lead a group of multi discipline international personnel to engineer, procure, construct and commission projects involving the production and storage of sulfuric acid for our Nickel and Cobalt production facility located in Moa, Holguin, Cuba.

One of these projects encompass the installation of two fifteen-thousand-ton acid storage tanks, which include containment and pumping facilities. The second project revolves around the refurbishment and partial replacement of the three existing operational trains of sulfuric acid plants.

This position will be based in Moa, Holguin, Cuba on a four weeks in, two weeks out rotational schedule.

The work environment will be in an office and plant environment.

Accountabilities

• Perform all appropriate project turnover and closure including documentation, handover and filing.
• Plan and implement projects
• Monitor and report on project progress and attend project review meetings and ensure that associated reports are compiled and distributed accordingly.
• Define tasks and required resources
• Evaluate and assess the result of the project
• Allocate project resources by reviewing project proposals and deliverables with project team and other stakeholders to determine proper lead-time, budget, procedures for accomplishing project and staffing requirements.
• Track deliverables by coordinating with stakeholders and team members to produce schedules with credible deadlines and deliverables.
• Create a schedule and project timeline Interfacing routinely with operations on schedules and reports to ensure we are meeting all appropriate operations needs and expectations
• Manage and lead the Engineering, Mechanical, Piping, Civil, Instrumentation and Electrical teams in carrying out all Project activities.
• Maintain excellent communication with project stakeholders, technicians, and contractors throughout the project lifecycles to ensure timely and efficient completion of projects, proper communication of issues, and proper documentation of the entire process at each job site.
• Develop a project risk register to identify potential risks to the project, and develop contingency plans to address these risks.
• Lead quality assurance
• Provide assistance as required in strategic procurement planning.
• Manage budget and assist in cost control analysis monthly in coordination with finance teams and project controller
• Assist in defining project scope, goals and deliverables
• Train and mentor junior Cuban project managers
• Responsible for the direction, coordination, implementation, execution, control and completion of the project while remaining aligned with the strategy, commitments and goals of the organization.
• Support and direct teams by coordinating to serve as the bridge between engineering, construction, commissioning, procurement and project management teams.

Qualifications And Skills

• Experience in strategic planning, risk management and/or change management
• Proven working experience in project management in similar industry with 10+ years of related experience
• Project planning, risk management, time management and other project management skills
• Knowledge of Safety and Quality procedures. Activity Scheduling and discipline work priorities.
• Excellent written, verbal, communication and organizational skills.
• Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
• EPC experience in Sulfuric Acid Plant & processes would be considered an asset
• Fluency in Spanish would be considered an asset
• Problem-solving and leadership skills
• Proficiency in project management software tools
• Professional designation in Engineering, Technology: P.Eng., P.L.(Eng.), P.Tech.(Eng.), C.E.T. or similar an asset
• Knowledge of international equipment specifications and codes.
• Project management qualification (PMP), Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM), or equivalent experience as a project manager
• Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the use of these tools for extraction, analysis and presentation of data from Project.
• Conflict resolution experience
• Independent, self-starter, self-learner, comfortable in a rapidly evolving environment.
