Govan Brown has an exciting opportunity for a talented and energetic Project Management Assistant / Project Coordinators to join our Building Group team. You will provide support to the Project Managers, ensuring client projects are executed on schedule, within budget and at the highest quality.
The opportunity

• Review shop drawings for scope and accuracy against schedules
• Provide project accounting support – assist with approvals for AP processing and client invoicing, budgets & estimates
• Setup and maintain accurate project information and data in our computerized project management system (CMiC)
• Proactively manage project processes and documents, such as project set up, bid packages, subcontract management, drawings, purchase orders, contracts, building permits, change order requests and pricing, RFIs, RFQs, close out etc.
• Provide top notch service to clients, suppliers and other stakeholders by responding professionally and with a sense of urgency
• Liaise and build relationships with stakeholders - clients, sub-contractors, designers etc.
• Track and communicate regularly with key stakeholders regarding project status and milestones
• Play a key role through all phases of our construction projects, from tender through construction and close-out.
• Organize the project closeout documentation, including; warranties, drawings, manuals, permits etc.
• Conduct regular site visits, attend and participate in client and trade meetings

Skills & Experience

• Positive spirit with a “get ‘er done” attitude
• Proactively identify problems / issues and develop effective solutions
• Confidence and professionalism to communicate effectively with clients, designers, subcontractors and peers
• Strong knowledge of construction processes through all phases – startup through construction and closeout
• Tech savvy in Microsoft Office suite and project management software (an asset)
• Construction Management, Architecture or Engineering diploma or degree
• Highly organized and a stickler for detail
• 3+ years related experience, preferably in the Commercial Construction and/or base build industry
• Self- motivated with the ability to take initiative and work in a fast-paced environment, handling competing demands
• Ability to read and understand construction-related drawings/documents - architectural, structural, M&E
• Ability to work under minimal supervision / direction as well as part of a team, sharing information with others
