Job Description

CARING DAD’S SAFE AT HOME PROJECT COORDINATOR

About the Agency: Changing Ways changes lives by disrupting violence and abuse and plays a pivotal role in contributing to the safety of women, children, and men. This advances our broader goal of achieving equality within a safe community where aggressors are held responsible and the community accountable.

Caring Dads is an internationally implemented leading perpetrator-based program that is unique in its focus at the intersection of domestic violence and fatherhood. The program focuses on helping to keep women and children safer by holding the dads accountable for abuse and supporting them in developing safe and healthy relationships with their children and children’s mothers. The 17-week program engages fathers (perpetrators of DV) to help them understand and take responsibility for their actions and improve relations with their children. The intention is to work towards preventing the reoccurrence of domestic violence and child maltreatment.

About the Safe at Home Project: Safe at Home will empower child welfare agencies and child and youth serving organizations in several communities in Ontario and Manitoba to deliver scalable, culturally responsive, and evidence-based services for young children exposed to domestic violence and their families by providing trauma and violence informed parenting support to mothers who have experienced domestic violence and intervention focused on accountability, safety and change to fathers who have perpetrated domestic violence.

The project is designed to respond to research and learnings demonstrating that best practice involves a collaborative front-line approach, with both child welfare and community-based agencies working together with families. This improves enrollment and participation of parents, leverages existing trust and relationships between child welfare agencies and families, builds program knowledge and training across both agencies and creates a multiagency team approach to supporting families. Core Function of the Position: The Caring Dads Safe at Home Coordinator will oversee the implementation of the project. The main functions will be supporting the Project’s Advisory Group and designated partners to help them establish and or improve the Caring Dads program within their agency and larger community.

Duties & Responsibilities: Co-facilitate Caring Dads local client (dads) groups when needed • Provide Caring Dads training virtually and/or in-person • Provide regular updates to the Caring Dads Leadership Team • Facilitate Safe at Home – Caring Dads Community of Practice meetings • Lead liaison with identified Safe at Home Community Partners • Actively collaborate with the Children’s Aid Foundation Project Coordinator or designate • Oversee overall project implementation, as well as support each agency with their own project implementation of Caring Dads • Support program evaluation, reporting, and research • Participate in Changing Ways Team Meetings • Consult with the Project’s Advisory Group - consisting of the Project Research Team, Caring Dads Social Enterprise Team, and Mothers in Mind Project Team • Help build new or strengthen current partnerships • Provide administrative support where needed • Create new practices/procedures and provide policy recommendations to enhance the delivery of Caring Dads within Child Protection Agencies

Reports to: Executive Director • Will receive additional support and consultation from the Caring Dads Leadership Team.

Education & Experience Requirements: Degree or equivalent in the human services field, such as: MSW, BSW, or equivalent experience • Experience related to working with issues of intimate partner abuse, violence against women, gender-based abuse • Experience with facilitating Caring Dads and or having Safe and Together training/knowledge considered an asset. • An understanding of and an agreement with a pro-feminist analysis of violence against women • Above average verbal and written communication skills • Possess strong project management, strong organizational skills, and partnership experience • Experience with group facilitation, training, and public speaking • Knowledge and or experience within child protection agencies/work
