Summary
The Department of Civil and Building Engineering at Université de Sherbrooke (UdeS) is seeking highly motivated Ph.D. and master’s students to join our research group in the field of structural engineering. Our research primarily focuses on Steel Structures, Structural Stability and Computational Mechanics. The successful candidates will primarily conduct research in aluminum structures. The position necessitates a proactive researcher with a well-established publication record. The preferred candidate should demonstrate evidence of the following:
Required Skills:
▪Bachelor’s or master’s degree in civil engineering, Structural Engineering, or a related field;
▪Proficiency in numerical analysis techniques and finite element analysis
▪Strong programming skills (MATLAB, Python, VBA or similar)
▪Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
▪Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English (or French)
▪Ability to work independently and collaboratively within research team
Preferred Skills:
▪Experience in conducting experimental programs related to structural engineering
▪Experience in aluminum structural analysis
▪Experience in working with machine learning, especially deep-learning and neural networks
▪Experience in investigating the behavior of metal structures in case of fire

2.A comprehensive curriculum vitae, including a minimum of three references
3.Copies of all university transcripts and diplomas
4.Master's thesis or a document summarizing your previous research (for Ph.D. applicants)
5.A certificate of proficiency in French or English if your previous studies were in another language
a)French language test: TCF (C1 and above for all four tests) or DALF (C1 and above)
b)English language test: IELTS 6.5, Internet-based TOEFL 86 or Paper-based TOEFL 567 (minimum 20 in each section) or TOEIC 750
