Description Of Role
SRI Telecom is seeking a recent Engineering Graduate or AutoCAD technician to contribute capturing as-built drawings of data centers. The successful consultant will be responsible for populating Sunbird DC Track software with current floor plans, racks, and equipment inside each facility. You will also be responsible for managing your timelines, priorities, updating target dates and completion dates in project trackers. We are looking for motivated recent technical or engineering graduates and will train on the job.
Tasks

• Drive from facility to facility in a major metro area.
• Review completed design for errors and efficiency.
• Identify when further help may be needed for more information and manage request and follow-up.
• Capture all as-built information within a data center facility and populate into database.
• Ensure design specifications are maintained.
• Be able to spend overnights in a hotel for areas greater than 60 miles from your home base.
• Measure floor layout of data center facilities using measuring tapes and laser distance meters.
• Reviews, resolves and follows-up on request and complaints.
• Create and maintain appropriate technical documentation
• May advise, train, and guide other designers.
• Regular, consistent, and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
• Utilize Sunbird DC Track software.
• Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Skills & Responsibilities

• Visual design skills are a strong plus
• 2-4 year degree in technology, design or engineering is a major plus.
• Competence in design methodology, process, and metrics is preferred.
• Must be able to work independently and without supervision
• Must be able to navigate the use of a laptop and multiple sources of data (Google Maps, CAD, ISP maps)
• Ability to interact and communicate effectively with other team members
• Experience in OSP construction, fiber construction, copper construction, utility construction is preferred.
• Attention to detail and ability to think creatively and strategically is a must
• Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Excellent organization and time management skills
• Experience with as-built maps (fiber, telco, etc) to identify current routes and splice points is preferred.

Work Schedule

• Monday through Friday 8 am - 5 pm in an office environment.

Salary
This position pays $31.25/hour on up, depending on experience.
