Job Description
Manager – Student Affairs and Academic Relations oversees successful delivery of two main programs:


  • Academic Relations: Establishes and provides ongoing support of formal programs and venues which nurture HHS/academic relations relating to current and future student clinical placement and training requirements.
  • Student Placement Services: provides staffing and budgetary oversight of central office operations to coordinate annual placement and maintain safe, supportive and effective learning environments for local, national and international students across HHS, including nursing, select allied health, secondary school and non-clinical students.


Additional program responsibilities include Take Our Kids to Work Day, Preceptor Awards of Excellence and the School Tour Program as well as a number of corporate-level education programs including the Health Professional Orientation Program and Nursing Orientation Program. The Manager functions according to the Accountability Statement for Managers .


  • A minimum 5 years relevant faculty experience at either university or college level
  • A minimum of 5 years relevant clinical education experience, preferably in an academic health science centre
  • Human resource management in both unionized and non-unionized environments
  • Change identification, implementation and management
  • Baccalaureate degree required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Leadership, mentorship, management and organizational
  • Inter-institutional relationship management and nurturance
  • Emotional and social intelligence
  • Verbal, written and presentation
  • Current Nursing or Allied Health license and College registration
  • Established record of continuing professional development
  • Demonstrated excellence in the following skills:
  • Critical thinking and problem solving
  • Budgetary management, forecasting, tracking and course correction
  • Interdisciplinary collaboration

Unit Summary


The Interprofessional Practice Portfolio (IPP), of Hamilton Health Sciences (HHS), ensures appropriate practice standards, processes, systems and structures are in place to support Interprofessional team practice and performance in the delivery of patient care across HHS. The IPP fosters relevant relationships, including regulatory body and academic community linkages, necessary to develop and sustain a high quality clinical practice environment. This includes providing safe, supportive and effective learning environments to approximately 5,000 secondary, college and university students on an annual basis.

This position is temporary from October 2nd, 2023 - March 31st, 2025
