Under the leadership of Dr. Kim Christie, Okanagan Clinical Trials makes a significant contribution to the medical industry. Our clinic specializes in the execution of research studies that hope to advance treatments for many indications including Alzheimer’s disease, Parkinson’s disease, migraine, autism, celiac disease, diabetes, and more.
The Role
The primary responsibility of the Memory Assessor is to conduct memory assessments for our free memory clinic and introduce interested candidates to our clinical research studies. The Memory Assessor will have in-depth knowledge of the various scales we use for our free memory clinic. The Memory Assessor is responsible for accurate, efficient, and timely data entry in our database system. As a key point of contact for the organization, the Memory Assessor must present a positive attitude, and have excellent customer service and communication skills. The Memory Assessor will report to management at Okanagan Clinical Trials.
Hours: 40 hours per week, full time
Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am to 4:30pm

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Bachelor’s degree in a health or scientific related program required
• Stay professional and empathetic and manage conversations with participants who become upset or frustrated during the rating process
• Ensure a follow-up memory assessment is booked if applicable
• Conduct professional free flowing interviews with participants regarding memory problems and/or family history of memory loss/Alzheimer’s/dementia
• Conduct a variety of psychometric rating scales
• Ensure all prospective participants sign the Memory Clinic consent form
• Calculate and utilize ratings scale results to determine baseline cognition
• Professional and thoughtful disclosure of memory assessment results to participant
• Relevant clinical research knowledge preferred
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite and data entry
• Ability to manage multiple tasks, set priorities and to work effectively under pressure to meet deadlines
• Build trusting and professional rapport with prospective participants
• Discuss our ongoing clinical trial opportunities with interested participants
• Be comfortable documenting health conditions and medication names and doses
• Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
• Ensure patient safety by responding appropriately to any potential for harm to self or others that is identified through the evaluations performed
• Ability to be thorough, organized, accurate, and have a high level of attention to detail
• Ensure all information collected during the memory assessment is recorded accurately in our CTMS database, and upload copies of all paper forms
• Collect consent and GP information if participant would like memory assessment results shared with GP
• Forward participant contact information to Lead Clinical Trial Coordinator if interest is expressed for trial participation
