We are looking for a Senior Risk Assessor to join our team, working across a variety of interesting and challenging projects. As a proven leader in Risk Assessment, you will bring experience in the provision of senior technical and regulatory advice for the completion of risk assessment projects, including human health and ecological risk assessments environmental toxicology/ecotoxicology issues, and client and regulatory liaison at the local, provincial, and federal levels. You have an entrepreneurial spirit and an interest in growing the business, along with mentoring and developing junior and intermediate staff with respect to risk assessment and project management services.


The role may be based in Burnaby, BC. If you’re the right person for the job, we are open to discussing possible remote working arrangements.


About The Role


  • Senior review of reports and calculations prepared by intermediate staff
  • Contribute to detailed site investigation planning
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to clients and prospective clients
  • Develop project proposals and lead the client development process, as appropriate. Contribute to the development of marketing plans and lead the development of major project proposals
  • Maintain your industry expertise and actively participate in upgrading your professional and leadership skills to ensure Hemmera remains a leader in the marketplace.
  • Develop client relationships that facilitate successful project completion and identifies future opportunities. Initiates client relationship building activities to monitor satisfaction levels and obtain feedback to support improvement in practices
  • Preparation of site-specific risk assessment programs and reports
  • Preparation of contaminated sites detailed quantitative human health and ecological risk assessment programs and reports


About You


  • Proven verbal and written communication skills
  • Entrepreneurial spirit and strong self-direction abilities
  • Strong belief and demonstrated experience in client satisfaction
  • P.Bio., P.Eng., P.Geo, P.Ag, or P.Chem. professional designation, or equivalent, or eligibility for registration
  • Ability and willingness to train and mentor staff.
  • 10 years’ progressive Risk Assessment experience
  • Strong people skills and an ability to work in a team environment
  • Proven ability to develop study designs to meet project, regulatory, and client objectives
  • Understanding of pertinent BC, and Canadian regulations and guidance
  • Skilled in data management and evaluation
