Medical Secretary, Medical Affairs

This is a unique opportunity for a dynamic and collaborative professional to provide medical secretarial support to Dr. Diachun practice within the Division of Geriatrics, Department of Medicine at St. Joseph's Health Care London.Duties will include management of patient referrals, records and appointment scheduling, office correspondence, medical billing, office accounting, and provision of support for physician research and teaching activities.Essential QualificationsRecognized equivalent by the Province of Ontario Graduate of a recognized Medical Secretary DiplomaCompletion of Ontario Secondary School DiplomaKnowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSAPrevious experience in an administrative role in a medical office settingExcellent understanding of medical terminologyDemonstrated Intermediate level computer skills particularly with Word, Excel, PowerPointMinimum 50 wpm typing speed and transcribing experienceHigh level of initiative and self-direction required with proven problem-solving abilitiesExcellent organizational skills to establish and balance competing priorities in a challenging and diverse work environmentSuperior communication and interpersonal skills with a strong customer focus as well as a positive and professional attitude toward assisting internal or external customersExcellent written and oral communication skills and a pleasant telephone mannerDetail oriented and demonstrated accuracy with the work involvedAbility to work independently and within a teamPreferred QualificationsDemonstrated understanding and proficiency in OHIP billing (IBIS billing experience preferred)Experience with Outlook and Cerner/Electronic Health Records (Accuro) is an assetExperience with research financial account management is an assetAbility to support physician productivity by maintaining calendar and scheduling appointments, physician consultations, meetings, conferences and travelExperience in organizing and coordinating meetings/events and follow-up when necessaryProficiency in French would be an assetTeaching and ResearchSt. Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital.
