Mechanical Manager
Ontario Line South
Ferrovial Construction Canada Inc. and VINCI Construction Grands Projects are to design, build and finance the Ontario Line Southern Civil, Stations and Tunnel (South Civil) package.
Working together as Ontario Transit Group we are currently mobilizing our design and construction crews, with major works to commence in 2023. The South Civil contract is anticipated to be completed in 2030.
The project will strengthen Ontario’s economy by supporting an estimated 1,500 jobs at the
peak of construction.
What is the project?
- A six-kilometer tunnel and associated tunnelling works from Exhibition to Don Yard portal (west of the Don River)
Stations:
- Four new underground stations (King/Bathurst, Queen/Spadina, Moss Park, Corktown)
- Two underground stations to be integrated with the existing TTC Osgoode and Queen subway stations
- One above-ground station to be integrated with the existing GO Transit Exhibition Station

What you will undertake:
In charge of all maintenance and troubleshooting for heavy equipment machinery.
General:
- Ensure equipment is always in compliance with Canadian Standards in Ontario.
- Ensure a high standard of safety at any time, strong safety culture.
- Responsible for setup, launch and develop mechanical maintenance for all sites.
- Responsible to build an mechanical team to maintain, troubleshoot and repair our equipment fleet.
Operations:
- Troubleshoot any kind of mechanical breakdown on all heavy equipment on site (Tunnel Crawler 50t, 30t, scoop, Mobile Crane, trucks, trailers, light vehicles, etc.).
- Define, set, and implement procedures to ensure good comprehension of works by the site teams.
- Plan maintenance to maintain equipment with high efficiency rate.
- Follow-up PR with procurement to get the material on time (3 weeks min to consider)
- Ensure safe and smooth operation of its teams and propose solutions to fit planning.
- Purchase / rent equipment and material for site teams with the approval of Plant Engineer / Manager
- Prepare works, schedule tasks, and dispatch teams according to site planning and priorities.
- Define and optimize Equipment schedule with Plant Manager, Plant Engineer to optimize the equipment fleet.
- Set-up spare part list, and follow-up spare parts, consignment stock, and consumables with Store Manager to ensure smooth operation.
Reporting:
- Get the hourly meters / Odometers meters of all equipment on site (km, running hours, etc., etc.)
- Generate statistics to identify any deviation from normal operation (operation hours, breakdown time, idle time, etc.)
- Ensure daily pre-start is performed on site and recorded in the server.
- Get daily reports from site team, staff and workers presence and hours done and tasks performed each day.
- Follow site budget and propose improvements.
What do we ask for?
· Engineering Degree
· 5+ years’ experience in Heavy Equipment fleet maintenance
· Excellent knowledge of design and visualizations software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D or similar
· Proficiency in Plant & Logistics
· Engineering and supervision skills
· Strong communication and interpersonal skills
· Proficiency in MS Office
