Senior Mechanical Engineer Designer P.eng

ESF is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Engineer Designer, P.Eng to stamp and mentor a Group of Engineering in Northern Ontario. Our client will assist with relocation on a case by case basis. This Job is In North Bay Ontario Full Time.
The Senior Engineer has all the authority required to effectively complete the responsibilities and duties of the position, including the authority to: Create new and modify existing designs as required by regulatory bodies, client specifications, or internal needs.
Research, design and evaluate equipment and systems to meet all regulatory, client and Company requirements.
Support internal and external resources to ensure the timely delivery of projects, expected quality and allotted budget.
Participate in developing and maintaining in-house engineering standards and procedures
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS Post-secondary degree in Mechanical Engineering. Other disciplines may be considered based on experience.
Possession of P. Eng. license and in good standing with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO).
5+ years’ experience as a certifying (stamping) Engineer in a multi discipline engineering environment.
Strong fundamental knowledge of mechanical design.
Strong planning, organizational and time management skills.
Proficient with computers and familiar with SolidWorks or other 3D modeling/simulation software.
Strong critical thinking with exceptional problem-solving skills.
Able to handle multiple projects and activities simultaneously.
Able to work independently or in a team environment.
Demonstrate a high level of integrity and trust.
Demonstrate composure under pressure.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English.
Valid driver’s license and passport.
Willingness and ability to travel without restriction both within and outside of Canada.
Willingness and ability to fulfill the requirements of this position in an underground mining environment including (but not limited to) working in, on and around dirty underground mining equipment, spaces and activities.
Full use of all senses including physical ability to sit, stand, crouch, bend, reach, walk, climb and maneuver safely around office, underground and surface equipment and manufacturing equipment.
Must have the ability to use and wear personal protective equipment as required.
RESPONSIBILITIES Ensure designs meet project requirements – technical, budgetary, schedule, etc.
Take a leading role of the companies professional engineering as it relates to certifying (stamping) designs, calculations and reports as necessary.
Ensure all relevant regulatory and client requirements are met.
Ensure all initiatives and processes are in conformance with the Company’s established policies and corporate priorities.
Actively participate in the interface from the 3D modelling software to the company’s ERP system.
Maintain complete confidentiality pertaining to any company business.
Comply with established rules, procedures and Health & Safety Policy mandates and report any non-compliance.
Familiarize and adhere to all company policies as detailed in the Company Little Book of House Rules.
Develop, evaluate and implement innovative technical solutions.
Analyze project requirements and perform technical calculations supporting the design including Finite Element Analysis (FEA).
Research and specify system components for projects and products.
Certify designs, calculations and reports as necessary.
Provide technical advice to in-house and external clients.
Participate directly in the engineering work of the department.
Commission products and systems in house and at customer facilities
Provide direction to designers throughout projects from a technical standpoint.
Maintain accurate records and files according to Company standards.
Be a mentor for EITs as it related to their development and eligibility for PEO licensing.
Complete tasks on time and within budget or notify the Engineering Manager of an alternative plan.
Other tasks, projects and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Engineering Manager.
MEASURE OF PERFORMANCE The Senior Engineer will be considered to be performing at an acceptable level when: All required certifications are completed and issued in a timely manner.
All regulatory and client requirements for a project are met.
Project support is provided in a timely fashion and meets the needs of the design team and external resources needs.
Design ideas meet Company expectations.
All other duties and responsibilities are being completed to the satisfaction of the Engineering Manager.
