Mechanical Designer Jobs

Role and Responsibilities

1.Create mechanical 3D models in CAD (AutoCAD Inventor, SolidWorks)

2.Create and maintain proper drawing title blocks and formats

3.Receive and improve existing 3D models

4.Create 3D models from actual (physical) parts and assemblies

5.Generate IFC and shop drawings

6.Maintain revision and release standards

7.Generate bills of materials and other documentation

Qualifications and Education Requirements

1.Mechanical technologist or engineering diploma from a recognized college

2.Five (5) plus years’ experience in mechanical design of heavy machinery

3.Proficiency with 3D modeling software, specifically including piping and cabling (wiring) modules

4.Ability to measure physical parts and assemblies, create a hand sketch, and then convert to 3D model

5.Ability customize design software with materials and parts databases

6.Strong familiarity with manufacturing techniques, specifically sheet metal fabrication and machining

7.Strong familiarity with tolerancing

8.Strong familiarity with design of pressurized vessels, rigid and flexible piping

9.Familiarity with applicable codes

10.Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with minimal supervision

Preferred Skills

1.Good English communication skills, both oral and written

2.English/Mandarin bilingualism strongly preferred, but not required

3.Experience with electromechanical and hydraulic system design a strong asset

4.Experience with design and visualization of mechanisms and kinematic assemblies a strong asset

5.Certifications from courses in 3D modeling and design

6.Knowledge of parametric design and design optimization

7.Experience with static FEA is an asset, but not required as training will be provided.
