MECHANICAL DESIGN ENGINEER

Summary:

TheMechanical Design Engineeris a methodical, detailed oriented, and creative professional that will be responsible for creating engineering designs within specific growth markets for the company. The successful candidate will be engaged in the analysis, conceptual design, and development of various parts, components, and assemblies for our diverse customer base using traditional tools and new technologies to assist throughout the product development life cycle.

Detailed Duties and Responsibilities:

• Other engineering-related activities, as required
• Perform initial and ongoing design and technical reviews
• Create designs and drawings of mechanical assemblies using Solid Works CAD software
• Lead new development activities as a product owner
• Support product hand-off to manufacturing and in-field implementation
• Define requirements for new product development
• Assist in managing the drawing database
• Define and develop product verification and support test execution in onsite rapid prototyping and test lab
• Work with Supply Chain and Quality teams to support product procurement and open engineering issues

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

• An energetic, diligent work ethic and able to work with little supervision
• Able to travel within Canada, the USA, and internationally, as required
• Education: BS Degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
• Work well under pressure and under tight timelines
• Must possess excellent communication skills to collaborate with customers and multiple-disciplinary teams
• Minimum 5 years of related engineering experience
• Computer knowledge and skills with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Solid Works or similar CAD software
• High level of organizational skills, detail-oriented, and analytical
• General familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing (GD&T)
• Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects simultaneously
• Project management skills are an asset
• Possess creativity for product development
