This is a unique opportunity for you to work with experts and engineering professionals across Canada on interesting and challenging projects. Working closely with our experts, senior engineers and designers on heavy industrial projects in the mining and power sectors including studies, the Intermediate Mechanical Engineer will act as a technical resource on challenging projects. This position will allow the candidate to directly apply and develop their knowledge in mechanical design and project execution.

• Ensure that work complies with budgets, schedules, estimates and established procedures
• Assist in the preparation of proposals, estimates, schedules and budgets, where required
• Perform technical information surveys when necessary
• Supervise or carry out design calculations and ensure that plans meet guidelines as well as legal and regulatory requirements
• Verify and produce specifications, reports, files for tenders, and other technical documents Present technical information, concepts or study results
• Prepare engineering documents for the design of works for projects in the following sectors: industrial, mining and metals, energy, oil and gas, environment and sustainable development
• Coordinate design activities with other disciplines (mechanical, electrical, etc.)
• Lead and participate in conceptual design studies
• On occasion, monitor contractors on site
• Assign and review the work of junior engineers (engineers-in-training), technicians and drafters assigned to projects and assess technical scope
• Carry out other technical duties to assist with the completion of projects
• Cultivate and maintain friendly, close relations with colleagues and clients or their representatives
• Provide assistance to more experienced personnel for the technical aspects of complex tasks
• Lead and participate in the preparation of plans and specifications and perform detailed engineering based on guidelines for mandates involving heavy machinery, conveyors, pump systems, crushers and metallurgical processes

Overview Of Certifications And Job Requirements

• Experience in mining and/or heavy industrial a MUST
• Experience in conceptual (FEL1) studies all the way to detailed engineering
• Asset: Bilingual (English/French – spoken and written, English/Spanish – spoken and written)
• Asset : HVAC, fire protection
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks and SmartPlant applications
• Asset : Construction support / site experience
• Equipment sizing (fans, pumps, ducting, piping, crushers, screens)
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office suite and other applications, databases and interfaces
• University degree in Mechanical Engineering
• Experience or high potential as a lead is a must – mechanical lead, discipline lead, project engineer, project lead
• Member of the PEO Minimum 7 years, upper limit is 12 years
• Available to travel occasionally between the Toronto and Sudbury’s offices
