Mechanical Maintenance Engineer – Thunder Bay Mill Operations

We are seeking a talented individual to join our Thunder Bay Operations team. Located on the shores of Lake Superior, Thunder Bay is a four-season outdoor paradise and is the region’s commercial, administrative, medical and transportation hub, providing the amenities of an urban center while opening the gateway to outdoor adventure in North-western Ontario.

Your Challenges

The Mechanical Maintenance Engineer will be responsible to develop, plan and implement activities to increase equipment efficiency and reliability to positively impact operational production and to reduce maintenance costs.

Your Primary Responsibilities Will Include The Following

• Ensure compliance to internal and external policies, procedures and regulations and to assist external auditors such as the TSSA, insurance companies, and / or other groups as required.
• Provide support with respect to equipment modifications, capital projects, maintenance support for shutdowns, troubleshooting, and working with outside contractors and specialists while also providing Engineering support.
• Work closely with operating and maintenance personnel, you will provide predictive and preventative maintenance support, failure analysis, root cause determination and implementation of continuous improvement strategies using accepted best practices.

Your Team

Reporting to the Maintenance Superintendent, you will be part of a results-oriented team whose members are encouraged to exceed expectations.

Your Profile

• Candidates must be able to legally work in Canada at the time of applying for this position.
• Mechanical engineering degree required, coupled with 1-3 years of work experience within an industrialized manufacturing setting.
• The ideal candidate would possess an excellent working knowledge of the paper making process.

Your Skills And Assets

• Demonstrated ability to balance priorities that meet short and long-term objectives; uses organized and efficient work methods;
• The ideal candidate will possess the drive and passion to continuously improve upon the health and safety, efficiency, production, planning and manufacturing cost and maintenance cost targets for the site.
• Good communication skills with excellent strategic thinking skills
• Excellent interpersonal skills required, including an ability to work collaboratively within a fast paced and structured environment
• Proficient analytical skills required as well as a strong background in MS Office, MS Project.
