Manager, Health Services
Reporting to the Director, Central, Western and Eastern Ontario Health Services Operations, the Manager of Health Services is accountable for providing leadership to all Laboratory and Health Service Centres (LHSC) and to the LHSC leadership team. The main responsibilities include managing the Help Desk (supports all aspects of workforce management), ensuring understanding (communication) and being a technical expert with LHSC processes and SOPs, promoting a culture of continuous improvement, leading projects and initiatives for patient services and representing the LHSC team on cross functional and business development initiatives. This person will play a crucial role in optimizing healthcare operations and ensuring the delivery of high-quality care.
What you will be doing:
- Work collaboratively with others to create Business Requirement Documents (BRD) to meet business needs and requirements for new projects, programs, or business solutions.
- Accountable for ensuring the implementation of LHSC policies, standards and practices
- Accountable for hiring, team building, training and development and conducting performance appraisals of employees to ensure attainment of departmental goals and objectives
- Effective management of Health and Safety programs to ensure compliance and legislative requirements
- Report all unresolved complaints to the Director, GTA Health Services Operations
- Implement Pilot projects, assess Pilot, including risk assessments. Determine how to move forward with roll-out plans.
- Create training documents and communication plans for new projects and initiatives.
- Create LHSC FTE Budgets for LHSC’s, training, sick, and vacation
- Manage LHSC Help Desk to ensure daily operations and workflow are maintained. Overseeing scheduling, payroll and documentation.
- Provide managerial leadership and direction for stratum one direct reports and secure their cooperation to successfully meet the strategic and operational requirements and goals of the department and organization
- Ensure proactive customer service is provided, including professional and personal assistance to all internal and external clients, answering inquiries, reviewing customer complaints and implementing corrective action as appropriate and interpreting departmental information as required
- Review and analyze programs and systems to ensure continuous improvement targets are achieved
- Manage and continuously improve the LHSC processes, to support the achievement of Dynacare’s mission, vision, strategic, and operational objectives
- Tracking of FTE over/under with Regional Managers and assist in determining proper FTEs required.
- Develop, implement and review a 3-to-12-month business plan and an optimal organization design to deliver sustained excellence in the development and execution of functional programs
- Work with Project Teams to ensure all aspects of Projects are successfully delivered and look for continuous improvement opportunities.
- Communicate and provide guidance for budget formulation and controls
- Participate as a member of the management team by providing input into strategic business planning
What you will bring:
- Proven customer service skills
- Proficiency in MS Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- Diploma in a health care, business or other related field or equivalent experience
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and organizational skills
- 5 to 7 years of medical laboratory and healthcare experience
Working Conditions:
- Prolonged sitting, repetitive arm movements (i.e. keyboard data entry), lifting of office supplies (less than 5 kg)
- Normal office environment
- Some travel may be required
