The Opportunity
This role reports to the Senior Manager, Materials Management & Warehousing and Master Data Management, and is accountable for the management and oversight of warehouse operations in Canada. It is anticipated that a significant component of this role will be client facing, working with various stakeholder groups to better understand client needs, pain points and opportunities. The Canada Warehouse Operations Manager has accountability for Canada Warehouse Operations, currently three (3) central stores (warehouses) located in Spruce Grove AB., Winnipeg MB., and North Bay ON. Warehouse operations accountability includes the efficiency, utilization and safety of the warehouse, the management of materials and inventory from the receipt of goods through to the staging, storage, prep for usage and outbound delivery.
The role is focused on customer service to internal customers as well as optimized warehouse operations. As a result, the Canada Warehouse Manager will interface with Materials Management, Operations, Maintenance and Projects to optimize inventory management, order fulfillment and materials management processes.
The Canada Warehouse Operations Manager will have several direct reports located at TC Energy’s warehouses. As a key leader, the Canada Warehouse Operations Manager will develop a high level of subject matter expertise and be accountable for the oversight of teamwork loads, prioritization, productivity, troubleshooting and issue resolution, as well as minor conflict resolution. In addition to their direct reports, this leadership role will also be required to indirectly lead and influence several stakeholders and peers.
What You'll Do
  • Identify and help deliver on initiatives and work that improves TC Energy’s operations, maintenance, and project delivery
  • Evaluate labor demand, contractor usage, and material and travel related expenses
  • Other tasks as required.
  • Responsible for staff development including performance feedback and recognition
  • Accountable for warehouse performance and critical service delivery to internal clients, supporting operations, maintenance, and project execution
  • Demonstrate unwavering continued commitment to safety through words and actions
  • Ensure facilities are maintained to support warehouse operations, accountable for regulatory required planned facilities inspections
  • Identify and pursue innovative cost savings and value improvement opportunities
  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with clients and gain their trust and respect
  • Collaborate with various Supply Chain and Business stakeholders and peers to improve upon existing processes and develop plans to meet company’s business requirements
  • Accountable for oversight of receiving, storage, cycle counting and issuance of a variety of inventory, materials, and supplies
  • Practice visible leadership by engaging in inspections, employee training, incident investigation and root cause identification
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures, and controls including but not limited to safety, health, confidentiality, and environmental policies
Minimum Qualifications
  • Designation or enrollment in a Supply Chain or Logistics certification program (e.g., CPIM, SCMA, SCMP, CCLP).
  • At least 10-years related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of materials management, inventory controls and logistics
  • Extensive knowledge of warehouse management principles
  • Ability to coach and lead a team of direct reports
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Experience in relevant SAP modules
  • Bachelor’s Degree
  • Experience with conflict resolution and problem-solving tools and processes
  • High focus on safety and service
  • Able to work under tight deadlines, with demonstrable strong time management and priority setting skills.
  • Able to travel up to 25%, each year
This position requires candidates to:
  • Travel to other company locations for temporary assignments, meetings or training (estimated up 25% of work schedule)
  • Have and maintain a valid driver's license and provide a driver's abstract (record) for review
  • Stay overnight away from home base (estimated up 25% of work schedule)
  • Have current, valid authorization to travel internationally (including but not limited to Canada, US and Mexico)
