Role Overview:
The ESG Lead is responsible for working with the corporate office, Enercare’s divisions, and its strategic partners, to coordinate the company-wide ESG program, and to lead sustainable, socially responsible initiatives.
As a subject matter expert, they will be responsible for strong collaboration with key business functions, drive meaningful and measurable improvement across ESG measures tied to key business processes, as well as lead overall reporting and stakeholder engagement.
Main Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to coordinate assessments, templates, and data collection files for any ad-hoc ESG requests in a timely manner
- Work alongside colleagues to implement ESG policies / procedures throughout the organization
- Hands-on ESG assistance and support across the organization, data analyses, implementing reporting, training, coaching and sharing of best practices
- Present regular ESG updates to Enercare’s leadership team
- Partner cross functionally and with Enercare’s stakeholders to build out ESG strategy, including vision, framework and roadmap
- Provide leadership within the company on identifying, developing and implementing opportunities to engage employees in ESG efforts
- Act as a thought leader in ESG: Understand current and future challenges/opportunities within the industry and educate and prioritize these issues across the organization
- Play a key role in advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts
- Prioritize the ESG issues and develop a short and long-term roadmap identifying and prioritizing what ESG practices and policies align best to the business
- Collaborate with Sales and Marketing to effectively embed our ESG vision and progress in the value propositions to our customers
- Recommend organizational requirements to scale and sustain the ESG program
- Lead Enercare’s recurring ESG data collection, reporting and disclosure processes
Required Experience, Education, and Skills:
- High computer proficiency in MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
- 5+ years experience with ESG concepts and frameworks
- Hands-on experience managing ESG-related functions
- Ability to work in a fast-paced professional environment, and willingness to travel occasionally (mostly in Ontario)
- Team player and self-motivator with strong problem-solving skills
- High degree of integrity, business ethics and accountability
- Post-secondary education in a related field
- Ability to communicate with all levels of internal/external partners
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Strong working knowledge of ESG reporting standards and frameworks (i.e. GRI, SASB, TCFD), and ESG rater expectations
- Hands-on, Self-starter and independent performer
