Job Details
Position Title: Junior Data Analyst
Status: Initiatives & Opportunities - 12 months, may be extended
Hours: 40 hours per week
Faculty/Department: Enterprise Applications, Information Technology Services (ITS)
Campus/Location: North Campus - Hybrid model (a mix of home and in-office workdays)
Payband/Hourly Rate: Support J $39.15 - $45.38
What You Will Do
As a key member of the team, the Junior Data Analyst builds, operates, maintains, and secures the highly available and complex enterprise digital services (including systems, integrations, processes, and people). The Junior Data Analyst collaborates and works with the project team to design and build data management and analytics/reporting solutions to provide insights to drive data driven decisions for the entire organization. Focused on projects and enhancing ongoing operations.
The roles and responsibilities of the Junior Data Analyst include:
  • Design and build data management processes to collect / cleanse / transform / store large amounts of data from various data sources (e.g., CRM, files, and databases) into an enterprise data platform
  • Implement data quality checks to ensure accuracy and completeness of data before reporting and analysis.
  • Validate data management and analytics/reporting solutions
  • Provide knowledge transfer to EA BI team on data management and BI/Analytics solutions
  • Manage data security / privacy and data democracy based on Humber provided security guardrails
  • Acquire good understanding of frontend transactional enterprise applications with a focus on processes and backend datasets and data flow
  • Stay up to date on industry trends and new technologies and tools to continuously improve data analysis capabilities.
  • Support the Design & management of the reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata for CRM reporting within Humber guidelines
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams to understand their data needs and provide insights to support business decisions
  • Design, develop and maintain reports, dashboards, and analytics to track key performance indicators and metrics to support data driven decision-making and monitor performance
  • Collaborate with Enterprise Applications Application Architect, Business Intelligence team lead and other teams to ensure coherence with overall data analytics strategy and data privacy/governance
  • Perform data profiling and analysis on CRM (and other data sets) to identify pattern and trends
  • Prepare Solution Detail Design (SDD) specifications to outline data management / analytics details.
  • Develop and deliver training sessions to business stakeholders on the use and interpretation of data analytics and reporting

What You Bring To The Role
Education
  • Three-year diploma/degree plus professional certification or equivalent in Computer Sciences, Data Science, Data Management and Analytics, or Data Engineering
Experience
  • MS Power Platform
  • Robust understanding of data governance required to protect enterprise data and flourish enterprise data culture
  • Experience working in a multi-cloud platform is an asset.
  • Data transformation (ETL/ELT): ODI, SSIS, AWS Glue, MS Data Factory or equivalent
  • Knowledge of design and implementation of a large-scale enterprise data management solution including definition of data architecture, data collection, data preparation, data processing, data transformation, data storage, data interpretation and collaboration to provide data driven insights.
  • Experience working with one or more of the following:
  • Data Analytics - Power BI, Tableau or equivalent
  • Data analysis - SQL, Python, R, AWS Athena or equivalent
  • Hands-on experience in the development and automation of data extraction, transformation, and load functionality for large relational and multi-dimensional data stores.
Skills Required
  • Technical Skills:
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis techniques, such as regression analysis and hypothesis testing.
  • Experience working with large data sets and databases.
  • Knowledge of machine learning techniques and algorithms is a bonus.
  • Strong proficiency in data analysis tools and software, such as Python, R, SQL, Excel, Power BI, Tableau or equivalent.
Analytical Skills
  • Ability to identify patterns, trends, and relationships in the data.
  • Ability to effectively communicate findings and insights to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to manipulate and analyze large and complex data sets.
  • Ability to create clear and concise reports and visualizations to communicate results.
  • Communication and visualization skills:
  • Ability to apply statistical methods to extract meaningful insights from the data.
Problem-solving Skills
  • Ability to work with stakeholders to identify business problems and apply data-driven solutions.
  • Ability to think creatively and critically to solve complex problems.

  • Ability to communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Ability to work effectively in a cross-functional team, including data engineers, software developers, and product managers.
