Position: IT Director
Location: Toronto (hybrid onsite)
Job Type: Contract/Part-time
Our client, a government-funded agency responsible for city revitalization programs, is currently seeking an IT Director on a part-time contract basis to start, with a flexible schedule of 3 days or 20-25 hours per week. There is potential for extension or conversion to a permanent role.
This individual will report to the CFO and be responsible for overseeing the entire information technology infrastructure, software, and day-to-day operations to ensure efficient and timely service delivery. Additionally, you will manage relationships with third-party vendors and provide specialized IT expertise and advisory services while overseeing a team of four direct reports within the IT department.
Key responsibilities include:
- Provides specialist IT expertise, consultative and advisory services to internal and external staff, consultants, service providers and relevant stakeholders.
- Oversees 4 direct reports within the IT department.
- Develops, maintains, and manages effective working relationships and communication with all third-party vendors and service providers.
- Directs the setting, implementation and maintenance of effective and efficient processes, procedures, and systems for high quality information technology service.
- Directs and manages our information technology infrastructure, enterprise software, day-to-day operation and projects for optimal and timely service delivery and support for current and future needs.
Key Requirements:
- Post-secondary degree or diploma in Software Development, Computer Engineering or a related field
- 5+ years of strong leadership experience and demonstrated ability to develop and manage effective teams of IT professionals
- Strong interpersonal, communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work, influence and make an impact in a cross-functional environment
- Strong background in the application development, technology, and operations support coupled with strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Experience overseeing internal IT help desk is an asset;
- Adaptable, resilient, adjusts quickly, maintains effectiveness throughout periods of change, exhibiting tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to lead the team through change
- 10+ years experience leading Application development teams with hands-on experience with Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Application Life Cycle Management (ALM), ITIL methodologies and Agile practices
- Stakeholder management and change management experience in a dynamic organization
- Experience managing IT Operations, including building, operating and maintaining IT Infrastructure is an asset;
- Excellent communication, presentation, interpersonal, negotiation, facilitation, influencing, and organization skills with the ability to drive organizational change
- Strong vendor management skills and experience in a dynamic environment;
- Experience with Microsoft, Dynamics 365, Sharepoint is preferable
