Job Description
Description
Robert Half Technology is hiring an IT Director for a client in Toronto. This position is to lead the end-to-end process of IT enhancements, upgrades, and major projects, including external resource management, while establishing and improving technology delivery.
  • Develop business case justifications and cost/benefit analyses for technology spending and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with senior-level stakeholders throughout the organization to identify business and technology needs and maximize the utilization of information technology.
  • Manage the IT application, data, and infrastructure environment as well as the IT staff to ensure service levels are high and meet business needs.
  • Develop processes and standards for the selection, implementation, and support of systems.
  • Establish IT departmental goals, objectives, standards, and operating procedures.
  • Determine the business requirements for IT systems, establishing IT policies and procedures for the organization.
  • Develop and maintain an appropriate IT organizational structure and IT services with service-level objectives that effectively support the needs of the organization.
  • Direct research on potential technology solutions and implementations in support of new initiatives, opportunities, and procurement efforts.
  • Establish and apply metrics to facilitate continuous evaluation and improvement of operations and delivery.
  • Establish effective communication channels and collaborative relationships across the college, key partners, and vendors, including working with partner college officials as necessary.
  • Develop, track, and control the information technology annual operating and capital budgets.
  • Supports the IT team in achieving a fully functional, networked computing environment that is compatible with systems and resources across the college, while also assisting with operational projects, ensuring efficient resource utilization, making hardware and software recommendations, and reviewing and recommending test and production environments.
  • Lead the organization's strategic direction for information technology resources, providing staff development, coaching, and training to IT staff to ensure adherence to company standards, performance goals, and successful completion of initiatives.
Requirements
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively plan, coordinate, and implement projects, while exhibiting leadership, strategic planning, negotiation, communication, interpersonal, analytics, and organizational skills.
  • University degree in a field related to the management of information technology, or equivalent post-secondary education and related experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a service-oriented environment, which values collaboration and collegiality, including interacting in a respectful and sensitive manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead change, effectively evaluate new opportunities, and stay updated on current information technology standards and developments.
  • Strong understanding of information security principles, compliance requirements, and data privacy regulations.
  • Experience in strategic planning, budgeting, and resource management.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the area of information technology and systems at the management level.
  • Experience to analyze, understand and effectively communicate between business requirements and technical design and implementation.
  • Strong ability and commitment to remain current with advancements in computer software programs, networking systems, hardware operating systems and in higher education.
  • Experience with computer systems architecture, systems administration, networking, information security and workstation administration.
  • Problem-solving, negotiation and decision-making skills to influence management, as well as internal and external partners.
  • Asset: Project management certification (PMP)
