Reporting to the Manager, Accounting Services, the Intermediate Accounting Services Coordinator is responsible for providing timely, efficient, and professional accounting services to the Firm.
Major Responsibilities:
  • Assesses the most effective payment method and initiates payment via cheque, wire transfer, EFT or credit card and follows specific processes for each method
  • Performs other duties as required
  • Provides accounting services such as processing payment requisitions, accounts payable invoices and employee expense claims
  • Handles confidential materials and documents
  • Adheres to strict internal control policies to mitigate internal and externals risks facing the Firm
  • Responds to general inquiries from both internal and external sources about policies, procedures, deadlines, and status of accounting-related transactions
  • Correctly records various commodity taxes and requests tax registration numbers/documents from suppliers when needed
  • Organizes filing and storage of related supporting documentation pursuant to Firm and external audit standards utilizing a combination of different software systems
  • Meet tight deadlines processing significant vendor payments and held disbursements, while simultaneously handling high volumes of transactions
  • Reconciles outstanding vendor invoices and follows-up with necessary course of action to ensure payments are fulfilled
  • Assists the Manager and Supervisor in training new Accounting Services Coordinators on accounts payable processes, internal control structure and other responsibilities of role
Position Requirements:
Education and Experience
This position requires a Community College diploma in a business discipline and/or a minimum of three to four years of accounting experience. An equivalent combination of education, training and experience may be acceptable.
Knowledge and Skills
  • Ability to productively work remotely, if required
  • Attention to detail and accuracy with numbers
  • Bilingual in French and English would be an asset
  • Organizational and time management skills to work with detail-oriented tasks and to efficiently multi-task
  • Strong oral communication and interpersonal skills are required to communicate with a number of various contacts internally and externally, at varying levels within the organization(s)
  • General knowledge of commodity taxes and recoverability rules
  • Knowledge of computer applications, such as but not limited to: Microsoft Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook and Teams), Aderant Expert, Chrome River, Adobe Acrobat Pro, ExpertImage
  • Basic knowledge of accounting principles and procedures
