About The Position


Lethbridge College’s Centre for Teaching, Learning and Innovation ( CTLI ) is looking for Integrated Student Support Specialist to join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Educational Development Lead, This role contributes to a vast learning support network within the CTLI and other student-centred support services by creating tools and learning activities to enhance the student learning experience.

The Integrated Student Support Specialist works collaboratively across student support and faculty support, focusing on the ecosystem that is fostered through integrated learning opportunities.


  • Partnering with faculty on various professional development opportunities
  • Consultation and mentorship on learning design and integration of student supports, student perspectives, and student core competencies within courses
  • Collaborating with various student supports outside the CTLI in support of a student hub of services
  • Adapting and evaluating student support services, spaces, and resources
  • Designing and supervising student work experience within CTLI


Excelling in self-directed situations and having the creative confidence to forge new solutions to systems challenges are keys to succeeding in this position. This role also requires strong project management, decision-making, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills and the use of flexible approaches to adapt to our client’s needs and comfort levels.

Empowering Others In Teaching And Learning Best Practices


  • Integrates instructional design, universal design for learning, and human-centred design principles into consultations, course design and project work
  • Encourages interdisciplinary partnerships in learning design through consultations and projects related to learning supports, instruction, and learning design
  • Partners and consults with other CTLI team members, faculty, and staff to integrate student learning support services, student perspectives, student core competencies, and the teaching excellence framework into learning experiences and institutional projects/initiatives
  • Partners with faculty to encourage growth in inclusive, flexible, learner-centred, and experiential learning design; the integration of student supports; educational technology; student core competencies; and the teaching excellence framework within learning experiences


Learning Support Service Design


  • Collaborates with CTLI team members to design and supervise student work experience opportunities related to learning support services within the CTLI (e.g., peer writing tutoring)
  • In collaboration with CTLI team members and Student Affairs, designs, adapts, and evaluates student learning support services, spaces, and resources
  • Collaborates with Indigenous services and on initiatives that support Indigenous student’s success


Support Student Hub Initiatives


  • Collaborates closely with Student Affairs, LCSA , the Registrar and ITS to support a student hub approach to student services
  • Has a detailed understanding of the learning management system and collaborates closely with other student support teams within the centre (I.e., Library, Learning Café, Digital Learning, Accessibility) to support the development of learning resources across the centre


Indigenization and decolonization


  • Collaborates across internal and external boundaries to meet common objectives, improve outcomes, and support the Niitsitapi Strategy


Evaluation and monitoring


  • Evaluates and monitors service offerings related to integrated supports to make formative improvements, identify impacts, and address emerging campus needs
  • Completes needs assessments as required


Required Qualifications


  • Experiments with new approaches, leverages setbacks, and makes realistic assessments of risks and next steps
  • Experience and competence using educational technology
  • Demonstrated time management, communication (oral and written), and project management skills, and the ability to work both independently and in a team environment
  • Significant and successful teaching experience
  • Interprets and applies college and post-secondary policies and procedures
  • Rapidly acquires new skills in emerging educational technologies
  • An undergraduate degree in Education
  • Evidence of professional development throughout a career
  • Some experience with student-facing academic support units
  • Approaches new tasks with a growth mindset and a willingness to learn from others
  • Strong organizational and self-management skills, including the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and attend to detail
  • Shifts easily between two or more activities or sources of information; work on multiple projects simultaneously


Preferred Qualifications


  • Master’s degree with specialization in education, instructional design, educational research, educational technology, curriculum development and/or another related field is preferred.
  • Experience and/or education on the topic of competency-based education and assessment is an asset.


Salary Starting from $65,127 to $74,009 per annum; commensurate with education and experience.
