About The Position

This role is within the Buchanan Library in the Centre for Teaching, Learning, and Innovation ( CTLI ). Through a combination of direct assistance or guiding users to the right place to find answers, students in this role will ensure excellent access to library resources and services.

Shifts will be between 3 – 6 hours on evenings and weekends, depending on availability and scheduling needs. All shifts will be on campus in the Buchanan Library. This position will be required to work on Saturdays.

Students can also work towards badging in the Student Core Competencies (Innovation, Problem Solving, Global Citizenship, Critical Thinking, Teamwork & Collaboration, Communication, and Career & Personal Development).

Position Details

Circulation

Specific Accountabilities

• Providing excellent customer service to our users
• Checking in and out of library materials
• Knowledge of all library collections and the varying circulation policies of each
• Re-shelving library materials and maintaining the library book stacks
• Helping library visitors locate materials
• Follow all privacy and confidentiality policies and practices, including signing the Lethbridge College Non-Disclosure Agreement
• Maintain and assist with printers, photocopier/scanner

Reference

• Answer or refer to reference questions in alignment with the training
• Maintain knowledge of library and CTLI staff to be able to make proper referrals as needed
• Assisting with TAWK reference chat, referring as necessary

Technology

• Refer technology needs to appropriate DLT or IT staff in alignment with training
• Provide basic technical assistance with Canvas and other related software
• Aid with technology inquiries, including wireless access, system password changes, printing, Microsoft Office, basic hardware troubleshooting etc.

Salary AUPE Class Level 1 Step 1 $16.01 per hour
