Our new top client, a crown corporation located in British Columbia is seeking an experienced and well versed Insurance Consultant

Are you ready to take the lead in protecting and securing the future of a dynamic organization? We are seeking a talented Insurance, Claims and Risk Management professional to join our team and play a pivotal role in safeguarding our operations. If you have a passion for insurance, risk assessment, and problem-solving, this is the opportunity you've been waiting for!

This opportunity is on a 6-month contract, with the potential opportunity for an extension. The opportunity includes a flexible hybrid work structure within their Burnaby office, in British Columbia.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Collaborate in the selection process of insurers, actively supporting negotiations to secure the most favorable insurance premiums for the Commission.
  • Develop and access insurance programs that deliver cost benefits to both the non-profit sector and the Commission.
  • Provide expert advice and counsel to senior management on various risk management issues and their implications.
  • Conduct thorough evaluations of insurance requirements and present comprehensive options for consideration.
  • Assist in the organization's risk management function by acting as a liaison between the Risk Management Branch and insurance brokers.
  • Take appropriate measures for bodily injury claims, including engaging in direct mediation or obtaining legal counsel when necessary.
  • Support the effective management of the self-insurance fund for directly managed properties, working closely with adjustors to handle property damage claims.
  • Cultivate and nurture strong relationships with the non-profit sector, guaranteeing that legal actions align with agreements and that our non-profit partners receive adequate protection.
  • Facilitate negotiations for liability reinsurance and oversee contractual relationships with insurance companies.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for efficiently resolving insurance claims, ensuring optimal outcomes.
  • Assess business operations and potential risks, actively participating in the development of risk management strategies, policies, processes, and programs.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Proven experience in insurance evaluation, negotiation, and claims resolution.
  • Strong knowledge of insurance policies, liability reinsurance, and risk management practices.
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess risks and develop effective strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with internal teams, insurers, and non-profit partners.
  • Proficiency in insurance software, risk assessment tools, and Microsoft Office Suite.
