Summary Plans, coordinates and performs activities of electrical / maintenance department engaged in construction, maintenance and repair of electric power, lighting and communication systems of buildings, factories and transportation by performing the following

Essential Duties

• Install control and distribution apparatus such as switches, relays and circuit-breaker panels.
• Proficient in fault diagnostics
• Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings and flooring.
• Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles and installs electrical conduit.
• Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
• Connects power cables to equipment such as electric range or motor and installs grounding leads.
• Plans new or modified installation to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes.
• Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together and applying tape or terminal caps.
• Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
• Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as Ohmmeter, battery and buzzer and oscilloscope.
• Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
• Pulls wiring through conduit.

Education/Experience

• Preferred- Industrial Electrician with at least 2 years’ experience as a Journeyman Electrician.
• Associate’s degree (A.A) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school or six months to one year related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills

• Basic e-mail knowledge. Proficient with Microsoft office is preferred.

Other Skills and Requirements

• Awareness of downtime and urgency to perform maintenance tasks as required.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must possess valid driver license and forklift operator license.
• Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commission, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
• Must have a valid journeyman electrical license.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees of organization.

Physical Demands

• The employee must frequently lift and /or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
