Training Coordinator – Human Resources

Job Location: Hamilton & Nanticoke, Ontario

Job Type: Full time, Onsite

Reports to: Director, Human Resources

Job Overview

Safety is the Core Value of Stelco, and the individual will make Safety the #1 priority in the execution of all work activities, including monitoring contractor /vendor safety in support of work efforts.

Your day-to-day:

  • Schedule training facilities and coordinate with various instructors and third-party training vendors to develop and deliver corporate training programs and ensure all materials and supplies are prepared.
  • Define and oversee orientation and onboarding programs for new salaried and bargaining unit employees. Renew, schedule, coordinate an efficient training record keeping system for in house safety and other requisite courses, as required.
  • Initiate, investigate, and work with subject matter experts to modify or develop new or current training programs to support the ongoing and future needs of the operation.
  • Assess relevant training requirements for new and existing employees and monitor completion rate and compliance data, where appropriate or required.

Job Skills and Knowledge:

  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate concepts into design and create insight from information.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office, D365, and other Training record keeping systems
  • Extremely organized and able to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience in developing and implementing large and small presentations.
  • Familiar with OHSA and Ministry of Labour Reviews and legislation related to compliance.
  • Strong written and verbal interpersonal communication skills including problem solving, presentation and facilitation of programs.

Job Qualifications:

  • University Degree in a related discipline; certified Human Resources Professional Designation (CHRL) would be an asset.
  • Progressively responsible human resources management experience in a unionized work setting.
  • Experience (3-5 years) in Human Resources with 1-2 years in Training or Facilitation in a unionized work setting

Working Conditions:

  • Safety is our highest priority and safety procures and guidelines must always be adhered. This includes wearing Stelco provided PPE, such as a hard hat, protective eye and earwear, gloves, respirator (if applicable) and safety boots.
  • The position may require flexibility in working hours for projects, deadlines, as required.
  • The job at times may require you to enter various areas of the facilities.
  • On call at times
  • Fast-paced office and industrial manufacturing environment for a high impact team
  • Both facilities operate 24 hours a day 365 days a year
