Job Description
Do you want to help build an environment where the very best people can do amazing work?

Then Jobber might be the place for you! We’re looking for a Human Resources Business Partner to be part of our People department.

Jobber exists to help people in small businesses be successful. As featured in the Globe and Mail, we work with home and field service companies to help them better quote, schedule, invoice and collect payments from their customers. Having been named the #2 fastest growing software company in Canada and one of Fast Company’s Most Innovative Companies in 2020, it’s clear we’ve come a long way from our first customer in 2011 – but we’ve just scratched the surface of what we want to accomplish for our customers.

Our product provides entrepreneurs the flexibility of working in their office or the field and we offer that same opportunity to our employees. You will have the choice to work in either our Edmonton or Toronto offices or remotely anywhere within Canada. We’re committed to ensuring the best experience for all Jobberinos to do impactful work. We weren’t named a top workplace in Canada for nothing!

The team:

The People team at Jobber builds an environment where the very best people can do amazing work. Whether it is your first point of contact with one of our recruiters, engaging in our custom onboarding program, or reaching out to one of our business partners, the People team is here to help you be successful.

While humble in their approach, the People team has been recognized as Finalists for “Top HR Team” at the Canadian HR Awards in both 2021 and 2020. They were also honoured to be a 2021 Finalist for “Top Rewards and Recognition” program.

The role:

Reporting to the Director, People, the Human Resources Business Partner (HRBP) is someone who has a passion for partnering with a business unit to help them grow and perform at their best. You’ll be supporting our Tech group by being their go to on the People team and the knower of all things People related. You’ll also be helping out with program development, change management, and supporting our business as we continue to scale.

To be great at the role, you are confident not just as a partner, but as an integrated member of our tech group. You understand the challenges and pain points of both People Leaders and ICs and can empathize and troubleshoot a variety of issues. You’re independent and can resolve challenges remotely, while also collaborating as part of a broader people team to ensure consistent and impactful people program delivery.

As the Human Resources Business Partner, you will:

  • Participate in our people team strategic planning process.
  • Stay connected to the tech sector by providing insights and advice on a rapidly changing competitive landscape.
  • Provide coaching and advisory support to the Tech group at Jobber. This will include managing and resolving complex employee issues. Other areas of outreach include performance, compensation, benefits, org design, recruitment, and development.
  • Manage the creation and rollout of new people programs at Jobber.
  • Collaborate and leverage other members of the people team to create best in class solutions.
  • Understand Jobber’s People strategy and utilize it to drive performance through the use of existing people programs, as well as the development and delivery of new people solutions.
  • Analyze data and metrics to proactively review trends in performance, engagement, retention, and other talent benchmarks. Develop appropriate recommendations and action plans with a solutions oriented approach.

To be successful, you should have:

  • You build strong relationships by quickly creating trust among the teams you work with. You consistently follow through and do what you say.
  • You have a team orientation and a belief that team success is just as important as personal success
  • You’re resilient and persistent in the face of challenges. You see opportunities not obstacles. You like quotes from motivational posters.
  • A positive, problem solving approach. You see the glass as half full.
  • Robust experience in a similar role, preferably supporting a fast growing tech organization
  • You’re a sponge for learning and feedback. You continually are trying to improve and are comfortable in a changing environment. You help others bring their best.
  • You have a firm understanding of employment legislation and how it applies in the context of our business. As we expand to new regions, you quickly bring yourself up to speed.
  • Experience working with employees and teams outside of Canada is considered an asset.
  • You are a strong communicator, both written and verbal. You’re comfortable preparing briefs for leadership or presenting a new program at our Company stand up.

What you can expect from Jobber:

Having been named as a Top 10 Great Place to Work in Canada, we walk the talk. Here are just some of the great things you can expect from us:

  • To work with a group of people who are humble, supportive, and give a sh*t about our customers.
  • A unique opportunity to build, grow, and leave your impact on a $400-billion industry that has no dominant player...yet.
  • Support for all your breaks: from vacation to rest and recharge, your birthday off to celebrate, health days to support your physical and mental health, and parental leave top-ups to support your growing family.
  • A dedicated Coaching and Development function, including Development Coaches, to help build the career you want and hit the goals you set, while ensuring you’re reaching your fullest potential.
  • A total compensation package that includes an extended health benefits package with fully paid premiums for both body and mind, RRSP matching, and stock options.

We believe that diverse teams perform better and that fostering an inclusive work environment is a key part of growing a successful team. We welcome people of diverse backgrounds, experiences, and perspectives. We are an equal opportunity employer, and we are committed to working with applicants requesting accommodation at any stage of the hiring process.
