Formulation And Nutrition Manager, North America

The Formulation and Nutrition Manager will lead the value creation and optimization of nutritional programs for livestock feeds in Trouw Nutrition North America. The incumbent will be responsible for the development, maintenance, and implementation of global nutritional systems, formulation solutions, and new nutritional concepts. The Formulation and Nutrition Manager will work with the nutrition and formulation community to optimize the tools and processes and use data analytics to capture value from least cost formulation.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Accountable for identification and removal of barriers to LCF value creation (e. g. via CAPEX)
• SKU rationalization by governing compliance to standard nutritional recommendations & nutritional portfolio frameworks in specification setting by specification nutritionists
• Drive the least cost formulation process from industry standard basic levels to advanced by integrating IBP
• Responsible for animal nutrition & health through nutritional delivery from standard products via LCF software and TN nutritional database & models
• Assess least cost formulation performance across BU and ensure adherence to best practices process
• Accountable for decision making on formulation change requests outside LCF
• Accountable to tailor specification boundaries and guidelines to regional operations and raw material conditions in alignment with global boundaries and guidelines
• Identify required changes to animal models, nutrient matrix equations and related boundaries
• Accountable for formulations as outcome of LCF
• Accountable for cross-functional cost optimization across raw material, manufacturing, and supply chain
• Lead the North America NFM team community and collaborate with Global through Nutrix Innovation Platform to maintain, upgrade, and bring new concepts to nutritional database to reduce costs and ensure optimal animal performance
• Accountable for quality, animal safety, nutritional delivery, legal compliance and regulatory compliance of nutritional specifications
• Accountable for nutritional database, standard nutritional recommendations & nutritional portfolio frameworks, formulation system(s), continuous improvement, and KPI analysis.

PREFERRED HIRING CRITERIA:

• Good understanding of nutrition, chemistry, digestive physiology
• Experiences in working with multi-disciplinary teams in an international environment
• Academic degree in Agri/Food discipline
• Authentic leader with natural authority and excellent intercultural and cross-functional management skills
• Proficient in English. Ability to speak French is an asset, but not mandatory.
• Experience in formulation with Linear Programming Software (Bestmix and/or other)
• Profound knowledge of macro and micro ingredients (including legislative aspects)
• 10+ years working experience in Animal Nutrition industry, including a key management position in international Agri/Feed Industry
• Experience in automation considered an asset
• Experience in Procurement, Quality and Customer Services would be a plus
• Technical / Nutritional /Formulation business experience and credibility
• Understanding of supply chain & manufacturing challenges
