Yamnuska Wolfdog Sanctuaryis currently recruiting for a full time position of Facility Maintenance for our organization. Reporting to the Facilities Manager theprimary focusof this role is to assist our Facilities Manager to ensure all Sanctuary maintenance related tasks are completed.The successful candidate will focus on ensuring all Sanctuary grounds are maintained.
We are a fun, committed and hardworking team, dedicated to sharing our passion for wolfdogs and wolves with the public.
This is an 8 week positions with a start date in early July. The role is supported by Canada Summer Jobs and is only available to people 18-30 years old.
Facilities Maintenance Duties and Responsibilities:
·Assisting in the maintenance of all Sanctuary pathways so that they are safe and tidy for all guests (this includes lawn care and debris removal).
·Maintaining all enclosures so that they are safe and tidy for all the animals (this includes clearing out debris from enclosures and minor landscaping)
·Maintaining fence lines(including electric fencing)
·Operating equipment such as lawnmowers, weed wackers.
·Assisting the Facilities Manager in various construction projects and maintenance of infrastructure throughout the sanctuary.
·Demonstrate extensive knowledge of our facility and related topics
·Know all safety and security protocols, should they be needed
·Other duties as assigned
Requirements and Qualifications
·Valid Class 5 Drivers’ License
·Significant work experience in outdoor maintenance and operating various landscaping tools
·Highly motivated self-starter who takes initiative with minimal supervision
·Ability to use, lawn care equipment, and other maintenance equipment in a safe and efficient manner
·Passion for learning and willingness to continue to acquire relevant knowledge
·Previous kennel or animal care experience will be considered an asset
·Position is physically demanding and includes heavy lifting, pushing and pulling which requires an individual with the ability to maintain a level of fitness and endurance to fulfill the required duties
·Extensive understanding of wolf, dog and wolfdog behaviour is an asset
Be able to exercise judgment, be detailed and observant, and be able to communicate well with coworkers and the public.
