Job Description
At Horizon, we’re building a new dimension where Internet economies are fun, accessible, and for the benefit of all participants.

We have two amazing products to make this real:

Sequence, the all-in-one developer platform + smart wallet that makes building web3 games and applications easy.

Skyweaver, a digital trading card game—powered by Sequence—where players can win, own, and trade their NFT/SFT game items.

Sequence is poised to drive web3 adoption on a massive scale by making blockchain easy, fun and powerful for users and developers. And, Skyweaver is a groundbreaking video game with an unprecedented player-owned economy, novel gameplay, and an already fervent community.

While the challenge is hard, we find it incredibly fun. And, we have the ingredients to make it happen: a well-capitalized company with some of the best investors in the world, including Brevan Howard Digital, Take-Two Interactive Software Inc., Coinbase, Ubisoft, Polygon, Morgan Creek Digital, Initialized, BITKRAFT, and more; an amazing team of leaders in the web3 space; engineers who have built widely popular open source; a former top McKinsey strategy consultant; gaming industry veterans; and founders who have built and sold successful companies. You'll get to work with and learn from them all. Learn more at https://horizon.io/

About the Role:

We’re looking for a Events Management Specialist to join our marketing team to help plan, deliver and execute on conventions, tradeshows, live and virtual events that Horizon will participate in—mostly for our Sequence product, but from time to time, our parent brand Horizon and our digital trading card game Skyweaver as well. The Events Management Specialist we’re seeking is extremely organized and loves to get hands on to deliver and execute live events. You will work alongside an awesome and collaborative team to help guide and support you.

As we grow our marketing team, we are looking for a self-starter that can be both hands on and strategic. You will report to the Product Marketing Director and collaborate with the extended marketing team to execute events and tradeshows that drive awareness of our brand and new customer acquisitions. You are detail oriented, tactful, and timeline driven and can strategize at a high level to plan out events of varying size and audiences. You also understand the importance of the attendee experience, ensuring that all of our live presences are memorable for attendees.

As the Events Management Specialist, you'll be responsible for building, executing, and coordinating the plans for our largest industry conferences like GDC, Gamescom, GamesBeat Summit, and 3XP, among others. You will lead our events, rallying and coordinating the internal stakeholders into making the most out of each event.

Responsibilities

  • Internal comms: Keep a close communication loop with the internal stakeholders of each event: marketing, BD, and leadership. Keep them informed on the plan, resources and blockers we have, and get what you need from each part of the team to make your events successful
  • Availability to travel internationally and work evenings and weekends from time to time when executing events
  • Team player, positive attitude, strong verbal, and written communication skills and excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to multitask, managing priorities and concurrent projects, meeting strict deadlines in a busy and ever-changing environmentAble to work independently
  • Research: You'll have the opportunity to research various events we could attend or sponsor, as well as other opportunities to consider, and make recommendations internally
  • Event Management: We're talking about building and executing the complete plan for our presence at the event, including logistics; ordering promotional materials; developing our booth presence (including booking audio visual requirements, etc.); briefing on creative assets, swag and merch production; managing invitees and their travel and accommodations; overseeing supplier and vendor management; completing required paperwork and sharing with appropriate departments; and much more
  • Budget tracking: You'll need to build your investment and ROI plan per event, track expenses, negotiate contracts, and ensure payment of invoices with accounting
  • Internal collaboration and coordination: You will work with your marketing peers and our design teams on the communication and promotional plans for the events
What You Bring

  • Experience in managing events in B2B environments a must
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience in an event communications or event planning department
  • Highly organized: you can multitask without dropping the ball and you always meet deadlines
  • Event management experience is a must
  • You like to innovate and you’re driven
  • You are resourceful and LOVE to take initiative
  • You’re able to manage stress—let's face it, events can be stressful
Why Horizon?

  • Accelerate your career by joining at the early stages
  • Extensive health benefits for Canadian employees
  • Work on hard, big, meaningful problems that can shift markets
  • We invest in everyone’s personal development
  • Work with an outstanding team made of wonderful people who have built and sold successful companies, launched amazing products, and have rich experience in infrastructure, architecture, blockchain, games, finance, investing, strategy, consulting, design, marketing, community, and more

  • Competitive salary and equity package
  • We’re conscious about mental health and have modern vacation policies
  • New PC, and generous allowance for work-from-home setup
  • Work-life balance unlike the “crunch” culture you find at larger studios
  • Be part of defining web3, the next generation of the Internet, and creating symbiotic economies where both users and creators share in the value generated by networks
