About the Role

As the Director of Commercial Enablement, you will be responsible for developing and executing commercial strategies and operations that enhance revenue, profitability, and customer satisfaction as well as leading special projects and initiatives. Reporting into the Chief Commercial you will play a critical role in managing multiple projects and initiatives for the commercial team. You will work closely with the Sales, Marketing, Operations, and Finance teams to drive business growth through effective pricing strategies, sales force optimization, customer segmentation, and analytics. You will be expected to provide thought leadership and guidance to the company's commercial strategy, ensuring alignment with the overall business strategy.

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities include (but are not limited to):

  • Provide strategic viewpoints and actions to leadership team in driving changes and growth.
  • Collaborate on the design and development of reports/dashboards and generate relevant commercial insights.
  • Use data analytics to identify market trends, sales opportunities, and customer needs to improve sales and marketing effectiveness.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to identify, define, measure, and improve Key Performance Indicators (KPIs).
  • Facilitate strategy & business planning in terms of method, process, tools & consolidation.
  • Identify and translate business needs and best practices into detailed process and tool requirements.
  • Develop and execute commercial strategies to drive revenue growth and improve profitability including implementation of pricing strategies.
  • Play Key liaison role between Commercial, R&D, Finance and Operations in terms of process and database alignment.
  • Map and perform gap analysis of business and commercial processes and requirements.
  • Proactively and continuously optimize the sales process, sales capabilities and tools to improve sales efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage database quality (input and output data) and repository and ensure their integrity and governance.
  • Lead efficiency and effectiveness projects in partnership with other functions to address prioritized process improvement opportunities with heavy focus on how changes impact customers and customer-facing roles.
  • Establish and maintain governance for use of the CRM system and ensure alignment with all processes.
  • Build and manage a high-performing Commercial Enablement program and team.
  • Develop and maintain market and customer segmentation and targeting models, building account mapping and planning, deploying analytics tools, setting incentive and award programs.
  • Drive, coordinate, and execute commercial enablement initiatives aligned to key strategic imperatives.
  • Work closely with the Marketing team to develop and execute effective marketing campaigns, product launch plans and go-to-market strategies.

Required Qualifications/Skills:

  • Proven leadership skills including the ability to coach and influence within a matrix environment and to motivate cross functional teams to achieve business goals.
  • Strong project management skills with proven ability to initiate, scope, setup, drive and manage complex, strategic, and cross-functional projects with a demonstrated record of meeting commitments.
  • Demonstrated impact in driving commercial strategy processes and executing commercial enablement projects, as well as the management of complex commercial customer-facing projects.
  • 10+ years of experience in Sales, Marketing, Business Development or related field in the Life Science industry, preferably in Cell and Gene Therapy, with a focus on commercial enablement
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Ability to challenge status quo in a constructive and positive approach.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration, Economics, Marketing or related field; MBA preferred
  • Deep understanding of commercial strategies, pricing, sales force optimization and customer segmentation
  • Expert in software operating systems, such as MS Office, customer relationship management (CRM), enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems, data analytics platform (Global Data) and project management software.

Working Conditions:

The successful candidate will be required to work remotely or at an available office space in Toronto, Ottawa, or at such other locations as may be mutually agreeable. The Employee shall supply their own mobile phone. Virica will provide a laptop and required computer software for the duration of the employment term.

Travel

Candidates should be willing and able to travel to global destinations as required, up to 10-15% of time.
