Job Description

Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), the Credit Manager will be responsible for the management of all things Credit. We are a medium business in a growth phase, and we are looking for a candidate who possesses the right attitude and skill set to work well in a team environment.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

Credit and Collections

  • Analysis of the credit procedures and measuring against predetermined goals
  • Customer inquiries regarding invoicing and payments
  • Collections – including liens and small claims court
  • Ensure all legal notices are properly served
  • Approving and maintaining all credit limits
  • Equifax reporting and meeting attendance
  • Monthly statement preparation
  • Processing and maintaining all credit applications
  • Develop strategies to minimize write-offs through well-organized recovery efforts
  • Maintain and grow loyalty programs


With one direct report, the Credit Manager will have oversight of

  • Monthly statement preparation
  • Charge accounts maintenance and purging
  • Monthly payment programs
  • Payment reconciliation
  • Year end close as it pertains to AR
  • Posting customer payments on account


Supervisory Responsibilities

  • Work along with the CFO to establish on-going evaluation of key AR metrics; develop monitoring and remediation plans as required
  • Serve as a role model in financial management, best practice sharing, proactive actions, and creative problem-solving activities
  • Ensure key deadlines and tasks are completed within AR Team
  • Supervise a Credit Assistant and oversee payment reconciliation, charge account maintenance and purging, customer payment posting, monthly statement preparation and payment programs
  • Advise/recommend workloads amongst all team members to ensure equitable attention and resources are given to all business units and customers
  • Create and maintain positive relationships, including contacts from outside customers and internal teams


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • 5 years’ experience with commercial lending
  • Knowledge of commercial and retail lending policies, procedures and statutory regulations
  • Good communication skills, including verbal, written, presentation and conflict management
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting or Business Administration or related field
  • Knowledge of collection procedures and current business practice laws
