Your Opportunity
Reporting to Manager, Residence Life, the Coordinator, Residence Education Programs (CREP) is a live-in position that works to create a positive living and learning environment for University College Residents. The incumbent is responsible for developing learning outcomes, residence programs and supports for residents; assisting with the selection, training and supervision of Residence Dons and other student-staff; advising student leaders; supporting students and facilitating referrals. Additionally, they will collaborate with the Manager, Residence Life in creating the overall vision, strategy and implementation of a residence curriculum.
Hours of Work: Regular office hours Monday to Friday. Regular evening and weekend work to coordinate operations and support students living in a 24/7 residence environment. Participate in on-call rotation for emergencies.
Your Responsibilities Will Include
  • Ensuring others adhere to established risk management protocols during University events
  • Developing strategies that maximize outreach to students
  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual's background
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities
  • Screening and making referrals to academic advising and learning skills programs and other resources or services
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars
  • Providing basic support and general referrals to individuals in distress
Essential Qualifications
  • Effective at creating learning assessments, resources and presentations
  • Experience developing and facilitating training and programming, and preparing accompanying resources, for students, student leaders, and/or student-staff
  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated ability to organize work, establish priorities, and meet deadlines while negotiating unpredictable emergent needs. A high degree of flexibility and adaptability is required.
  • Minimum four (4) years experience in programming and student engagement in the residences.
  • Experience in individual advising, conflict mediation, program development and community standards enforcement in a post-secondary residence community.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, take initiative, and achieve established goals
  • Ability to solve problems in accordance with established procedures while under pressure
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, train, coach, and motivate student-staff and volunteers
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to exercise tact and sound judgment in dealing with others and difficult issues
  • Experience advising and collaborating successfully with student leaders and/or groups
  • Ability to manipulate data, make sense out of dataand tell meaningful stories from data
  • Demonstrated student-centred, developmental approach to working with students, with integration of principles of equity, diversity, and inclusion
