Content Extraction Technician - Canada

As part of processing information for both achieving quality improvements and supporting migration to new destination solutions, ReVisionz operates Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) solutions with which to provide rigor and efficiency on how the source information is acted on. The Content Extraction Consultant is a technical computing role that works closely with content analyst team members to codify the extraction of information from wide ranges of sources in order to see that rules-based actions arrive at proper information sets in place for transformation and migration actions.

• Using SQL queries with such processes as Regex be able to manipulate the extracted data sets so as to provide content team members with tabular metadata results
• Using the ReVisionz Extract/Transform/Load (ETL) solution, or in cases a formal SQL database, codify specialized rules to guide the extraction of information/metadata and files from source SQL/Oracle databases and fileshares
• Manipulate large volume complex information/data sets to efficiently arrive at the extraction processing while not negatively impacting on the source software’s processes
• Liaise with the source software teams for extraction processing where issues may involve the extraction not processing effectively
• Jointly participate with content enrichment consultants on the information to define extraction rules that can be codified into the ETL solution
• Apply leading SQL and database skills to formulate the extraction target tables in such a manner to support efficient consolidation of information coming from multiple systems
• Architect and develop the overall extraction approaches to achieve highly repeatable and efficient means in terms of both the speed of large volume extraction and the effort involved to conduct the extraction work
• Develop reports on extraction status to both confirm success and to identify where specific information has extraction issues, and based on good understanding of the processes and rules discern the nature of the issues involved and actions necessary
• Measure extraction performance and prepare reports for the content analyst team members to use for business acceptance of the success of the extraction
• Apply filtering processes so as to be able to refine the extraction to specified information sets
• Gain technical data and database knowledge of the client’s source systems processes and functions as a basis to support extraction management. Typical sources include ECM applications, fileshare, specialized asset data management software and ERP solutions

Requirements

• Strong analytical ability and critical thinking skills
• Track record in effectively being able to understand issues and work them to resolution across multiple parties – key is full extraction success which demands effective decision making capabilities to understand and resolve issues
• Background in documenting existing systems functions (flow charts on how transactions flow, details on transaction processes, etc.), in regard to extraction solutions
• Self-managed by objective with minimum supervision
• Proven history in coding of rules-based extraction solutions
• Experience in collection, analysis, sorting, organizing, classifying, validating and uploading large quantities of engineering records
• Proven experience in the development and use of such extraction solutions from multiple sources to efficiently merge results
• Background in engineering projects/engineering information management as the basis for understanding the nature of information needing to be acted on by the extraction process will be an asset
• Bachelors in computer science or College specialization in computing coding
• Oracle and SQL database background
• Experience in management of engineering information pertaining to tags, engineering documents and data, physical equipment and project turnover will be an asset
• Strong background in SSIS, C++/C# and .Net coding to facilitate configuration of the extraction tools by which business rules will transform the content to be migrated
• Skills with the specified source and target systems will be a component of this role and will vary per each engagement – e.g., OpenText/ Documentum/fileshare ECM/files solutions, SAP/Maximo CMMS, Hexagon/Bentley/Aveva data management solutions, etc
• Skilled in SQL for query, reporting and analysis
