KPMG’s market-leading Global Infrastructure Advisory practice is growing and is looking for an individual who is interested in Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Emergency Management to be based in either our Vancouver or Victoria office.

What You Will Do
As a consultant/senior consultant within Critical Infrastructure Resilience and Emergency Management you are responsible for assisting senior colleagues with helping public and private sector clients
  • Reduce vulnerabilitiesand increase the resilience of critical infrastructure systems and assets in relation to a wide range of disasters, including those exacerbated by climate change.
  • Plan for, respond to, and recover from emergencies and disasters; and
The position requires sensible consideration, technical expertise, critical thinking, verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to collaborate effectively with other stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare proposals for RFP submissions.
  • Assist in the development of emergency response plans, state of readiness assessments, logistics plans in relation to emergency response, and disaster recovery plans.
  • Perform research, data gathering and analysis.
  • Assisting on major projects for public (federal, provincial, municipal, First Nation government) and private sector (e.g., critical infrastructure asset owners) clients across a wide variety of industries and sectors including transportation, social infrastructure, energy, telecommunications, and natural resources.
  • Assist in the assessment of potential hazards, vulnerabilities and risks that could impact communities and critical infrastructure and recommend adaptations to foster resiliency.
  • Assist in preparing strategic plans, business plans and business cases.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of strategies, policies, and procedures to enhance the resilience of communities and critical infrastructure in relation to emergencies and disasters exacerbated by climate change.
  • Contribute to a dedicated team of professionals in delivering advisory services to clients.
  • Prepare and distribute reports and proposals.
  • Assist in coordinating response efforts for ongoing or anticipated emergencies and disasters.
  • Assist with the development and review of engagement reports and technical project reviews.
What You Bring To The Role
  • Knowledge of federal, provincial, and municipal policies related to emergency management and critical infrastructure protection.
  • Excellent project management, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Climate Adaptation, Geography, Engineering, Emergency Management, or a related field.
  • Ability to work effectively in an exciting environment and to prioritize and care for multiple tasks.
  • Certifications in emergency management, business continuity management, logistics, climate adaptation, or related fields would be an asset.
  • Minimum of 2 years of progressive experience in emergency management, business continuity, climate adaptation, critical infrastructure protection or a related field.
