Position Description

Community Engagement Coordinator (Full Time)

With a focus on multicultural/multifaith communities, the Community Engagement Coordinator in conjunction with the Outreach Manager serves as a Seasons Centre Ambassador and educator to enhance and increase public awareness ofSeasons Centre and its services. As well, to increase Seasons Centre’s knowledge and awareness of the needs, values, existing supports, and barriers to accessing services for diverse communities.

The Community Engagement Coordinator reports to the Outreach Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate and deliver identified focus groups and information sessions (COVID-19 restrictions permitting) that are culturally humble and reflective of the needs of the community being engaged.
  • Redevelop a targeted outreach plan with identified communities that is responsive to the engagement strategy.
  • Attend Services Team meetings, Staff Meetings and other Agency functions as requested.
  • Collaborate with Diversity Consultant with respect to outreach and community engagement.
  • Participate and support the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusivity working group.
  • Recruit and support the training of volunteer Board Members, Ambassadors and Support Group Facilitator volunteers from the identified multicultural community.
  • Provide a monthly report to the Outreach Manager.
  • Identify predetermined multicultural groups toengage and develop a strategy to do so.
  • Represent Seasons Centre at multicultural/multifaith community fairs, events and roundtables that have been identified in the environmental scan and work plan.
  • Collaborate with Outreach Manager on opportunities for partnerships and development of culturally appropriate programming as identified by area school boards and multicultural/faith organizations.
  • Continue to collect, compile, and analyze data obtained through all avenues of engagement and research identified in the work plan through outreach efforts to the Seasons Centre for Grieving Children.
  • Conduct a renewed environmental scan to assess the depth and context of diversity within multiculturalism represented in Simcoe County.
  • Have an active role and responsibility within social media including development of the social media calendar, creating posts from a multicultural perspective as it intersects with children’s grief and identification of organizations and groups tagged.
  • Continue to develop and foster trusting and collaborative relationships within the multicultural/multifaith communities by conducting meetings with community leaders and stakeholders using a culturally humble approach.
  • Identify key population markers, tracking points, and historical trends of growth.
  • Participate as support group facilitator as needed.
  • Develop an engagement strategy, work plan and timeline, taking into consideration the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, to learn more about the needs of support to bereaved families within the multicultural/multifaith communities.
  • Build awareness of Seasons Centre for Grieving Children, its services and volunteer opportunities available.

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Research and evaluation skills an asset.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills. Highly developed listening skills. Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to create presentations, collect, compile, and analyze data.
  • Experience and demonstrated ability to foster relationships, work with diverse groups/stakeholders, and foster partnership building.
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, organize and deliver outreach strategies.
  • Ability to speak/read/write in French, Aboriginal, Italian, Spanish or Mandarin an asset.
  • Proven ability to work independently and take initiation.
  • University degree and a minimum of 3 years’ experience with outreach, community engagement, training, and group facilitation.
  • Knowledge of adult and child bereavement an asset
  • Demonstrated proficiency with computers, Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Position Requirements:

  • Valid driver’s license and reliable vehicle.
  • Ability to work evening and weekend hours as needed.
  • Computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel) and databases.
  • Completion of Seasons Centre Ambassador orientation program.

Compensation:

·1 year contract position (can evolve into a permanent full-time position)

·$25 - $30 per hour, 37.5-hour work week

·2 Weeks’ Vacation
