Collections Clerk [Accountant Staffing]

We're currently seeking a Collections Clerk to work with our client, a highly regarded law firm based in the Atlantic region. With a reputation for fostering a collaborative and supportive work environment, our client is looking for a committed, friendly, and professional individual for this great contract opportunity with long-term/permanent potential in Halifax, NS.

Key Responsibilities For The Job

• Respond to inquiries from lawyers, staff, clients, and vendors
• Ensure accurate processing of customer payments
• Other duties as assigned
• Monitor and manage accounts, payment terms, overdue accounts, and payment plans
• Reconcile discrepancies and forward escalating accounts as needed
• Participate in cross-training and fill-in where needed
• Maintain communication and account status updates for clients
• Assisting in establishing and maintaining effective collection strategies and policies
• Establish positive and professional client relationships

Experience & Attributes For Success

• Accurate and efficient data entry and keyboarding
• Flexible, reliable work ethic
• 3+ years' experience in a similar, busy AR-focused and/or customer/client-focused role
• Strong organizational and time management skills with the ability to meet deadlines
• Post-secondary degree with accounting or finance focus is preferred; acceptable equivalent of training and relate experience will also be considered
• Proficiency in MS Office Suite and the ability to learn new programs
• Superior communication skills with proven ability to provide outstanding customer service
• Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and as part of a dynamic team
