Cbnm Senior Project Administrator

Working within the Manchester Institute of Biotechnology (MIB) the post will be funded by an EPSRC/BBSRC Prosperity Partnership grant, along with contributions from AstraZeneca, Prozomix and the University of Manchester. The overall aim of this Prosperity Partnership is to develop new biocatalytic manufacturing technology for the three target modalities, namely

• Stereo-chemically complex small molecules.
• Anti-sense oligonucleotides (ASOs);
• Antibody drug conjugates (ADCs);

In order to address this challenge, the University of Manchester, AstraZeneca and Prozomix will bring together their combined expertise in organic synthesis, biocatalysis, computational enzyme design, mass spectrometry-based screening, biocatalyst production and reaction engineering/process development. This set of skills and expertise will be harnessed to establish a new Centre for Biocatalytic Manufacture of New Modalities (CBNM). Arising benefits for the wider UK community, including both academe and industry, will include a toolbox of engineered biocatalysts, together with an understanding of how they can be used on large scale for the cost-effective manufacture of ‘new modalities’.

The CBNM Senior Project Administrator will provide a pivotal role in the overall coordination of the CBNM, working alongside the Director of Operations to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of this centre. This will involve working with the research team at the university and the industrial collaborators.
