The Business Risk Group Manager is accountable for management of complex/critical/large professional disciplinary areas. Leads and directs a team of professionals. Requires a comprehensive understanding of multiple areas within a function and how they interact in order to achieve the objectives of the function. Applies in-depth understanding of the business impact of technical contributions. Strong commercial awareness is a necessity. Generally accountable for delivery of a full range of services to one or more businesses/ geographic regions. Excellent communication skills required in order to negotiate internally, often at a senior level. Some external communication may be necessary. Accountable for the end results of an area. Exercises control over resources, policy formulation and planning. Primarily affects a sub-function. Involved in short- to medium-term planning of actions and resources for own area. Full management responsibility of a team or multiple teams, including management of people, budget and planning, to include performance evaluation, compensation, hiring, disciplinary actions and terminations and budget approval.

Responsibilities:

Business Management

• Manage consolidation of BCMA business performance info for management or regulatory reporting. Prepare materials and ensure data integrity for information used in business committees or for strategic analysis. Represent BCMA Canada in relevant country governance forums.
• Appropriately assess risk when business decisions are made, demonstrating particular consideration for the firm’s reputation and safeguarding Citi and clients’ information by driving compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations, adhering to Policy, applying sound ethical judgment regarding personal behavior, conduct and business practices, and escalating, managing and reporting control issues with transparency.
• Ensure quality of data attributes related to client coverage/ attribute changes with CIS and Toolbox. Provide appropriate oversight and approvals on system data management including AMC, ICGToolbox, CitiRisk, etc. Act as the gatekeeper for various business approvals to ensure expenses, physical and system accesses and internal entities structuring are approved in line with relevant policies and procedures.
• Oversight on all business management related matters across Canada BCMA, including administrative, operational, financial/ revenue booking and reporting. Partner with internal stakeholders to ensure key processes achieve efficiency while meeting business objectives.
• Responsible for the analysis of internal business metrics data (client revenue, returns, backlog management, target market analysis, voice of clients, etc.) to support Senior Management Team in strategy planning and various franchise initiatives

In- Business Risk & Control (IBC)

• Maintain a close working relationship with internal policy owners at the second line of defense. Manage all in-business procedures and process memos with periodic reviews. Responsible for the planning and delivery of trainings on key business processes, operational risk concepts, tools, underlying policies and procedures to BCMA staff.
• Manage BCMA Canada’s third party relationships. Ensure internal and external third party relationships are granted the appropriate approvals, are inventorized and regular governance process is thoroughly documented for regulatory reporting purpose. Maintain an ongoing dialogue with third party service providers to ensure key performance metrics are presented on a regular basis and that any process deficiency is communicated with transparency.
• Represent BCMA Canada in audits, franchise reviews, compliance testing and regulatory examinations. Keep BCMA management aware of any key issues arising from business processes or the control environment through continuous and open communications, including changes to the control framework, significant events, lessons learned and root cause analysis as applicable.
• Oversight of internal controls, identification of key operational and emerging risks by ensuring appropriate review, design and execution of controls in compliance with policies and regulations. Support the business in the identification of any potential issues. Engage in the design of preventive or corrective action plans (CAPs) and manage projects till implementation or completion.
• Maintain a robust Manager’s Control Assessment (MCA) through Citi’s Governance, Risk and Control (GRC) framework. Engage in the risk assessment process in line with Global and NAM BCMA guidelines, as well as continuous monitoring of Key Operational Risks (KORs) in compliance with Citi’s Operational Risk Management Policy.
• Manage local and relevant US regulatory requirements including end to end regulatory impact assessment and change management. Work closely with local Compliance and Regional Business Risk management on regulation updates, identification of corresponding controls and the consolidation of information for regulatory reporting.

Qualifications:

• Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
• Self-motivated, highly adaptive, detail oriented, and demonstrated ability to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment while still maintaining attention to detail and accuracy.
• Experience in working with various risk and control systems is an asset. Good understanding of system logics and proficient in the learning and use of new systems to perform data analysis capturing key metrics across a complex organizational structure.
• Pragmatic problem-solver with ability to identify and remediate root causes.
• Excellent organizational and project management skills, ability to multitask and coordinate implementation of workflows involving multiple business stakeholders.
• Minimum 10 years relevant experience in Enterprise/ Operational Risk Management Audit, Compliance or other control functions.

• Bachelor’s/University degree or equivalent experience
