How Will You Create An Impact


As the Assistant Vice President of Information Security and Risk Management, you will be at the forefront of ensuring the safety and security of Manulife's customers and their critical information. You will lead and develop a team of experts, working closely with the Global Risk and Cyber teams, to implement the latest security standards and processes across the organization to protect against potential threats; creating and implementing strategies and policies to mitigate vulnerabilities and protect against security incidents; lead efforts to handle security incidents in the Canadian segment and provide guidance and recommendations to teams responding to incidents. With your leadership, you will be instrumental in maintaining the trust and confidence of Manulife's customers and ensuring the continued success of the organization.


Responsibilities


  • Ensure compliance with existing commitments and respond to client requests for information through the work of the Client Audit Team.
  • Manage security awareness and training programs.
  • Conduct risk assessments and implement controls to mitigate identified risks.
  • Collaborate with other Technology Leaders to ensure security is integrated into business processes and operations.
  • Lead all aspects of the development and integration of security policies, standards, and procedures across the Canadian Segment.
  • Oversee the Business Unit Security Office (BUSO) in their efforts to ensure the security of business unit operations and assets and implement the "Ship Green" initiative for compliance with security standards.
  • Lead the Business Continuity Planning and Disaster Recovery team in maintaining and testing continuity and recovery plans.


Accountabilities


  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements through the work of the Line 1 Governance and Control team (20%)
  • Develop and implement strategies and policies to mitigate potential vulnerabilities and protect the organization from security incidents (20%)
  • Oversee the work of the Security Application Architecture team, including the design and implementation of secure software practices and the integration of security into the software development life cycle (30%)
  • Lead the Security Incident Management efforts to handle security incidents in the Canadian segment and provide guidance and recommendations to teams responding to incidents (10%)
  • Lead the Path-To-Green Program to improve the "Identity, Protect, Detect, Respond & Recover” capabilities of the Canadian Segment (20%)


People Management


  • Provide mentorship and support to team members in their professional development.
  • Ensure that team members meet performance expectations, provide feedback and coaching as needed.
  • Manage and lead the performance appraisal process.
  • Recruit, hire, and onboard new team members as needed.
  • Manage and lead several teams within the Risk and Security organization.


Requirements


  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Superb communication and interpersonal skills.
  • CISSP, CISM, or other relevant security certifications is a plus.
  • Experience in developing and implementing security strategies and policies.
  • 7 years + of experience in a leadership role within the field of risk and security management.
  • Experience in the financial services industry preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Solid understanding of security best practices, OWASP and regulatory requirements.

Salary & Benefits


The annual base salary for this role is listed below.


Primary Location


Toronto, Ontario


Salary range is expected to be between


$120,400.00 CAD - $223,700.00 CAD

The actual salary will vary depending on local market conditions, geography and relevant job-related factors such as knowledge, skills, qualifications, experience, and education/training.
