JOB STATEMENT:

Marketing builds meaningful connections and creates experiences that deepen relationships. The team is responsible for developing and leading the Guardian brand and promoting its products and services across distribution channels and market segments. Simply put, we help Guardian and its subsidiaries and affiliates deliver the right message to the right audience, through brand strategy and execution. Reporting to the Senior Marketing Manager, the Marketing Design Associate will support and drive marketing efforts for the wealth and asset management business of Guardian. The successful candidate will collaborate with the team to create visually appealing and impactful marketing materials that align with the brand's image and effectively communicate the desired message to the target audience.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Graphic Design
The Marketing Design Associate creates various graphic elements, including presentations, banners, emails, social media graphics, short videos, and other visual assets optimized for digital use. They have a keen eye for aesthetics and use design principles to create engaging and attractive marketing materials that resonate with the target audience. They should have a good understanding of composition, layout, color theory, and typography to create aesthetically pleasing materials. They recognize the unique requirements of digital mediums and design accordingly to capture attention and encourage user interaction.
Marketing Collateral
They produce, edit, and format marketing collateral such as presentations, brochures, handbills, and promotional materials. They collaborate with the various business units to understand the goals and target audience, ensuring that the designs effectively convey the intended message and drive engagement. They incorporate feedback and iterate on the layout to ensure they meet the desired objectives.
Branding and Identity
The Marketing Design Associate contributes to developing and maintaining a consistent brand identity across all marketing materials. This involves understanding the brand guidelines and applying them to create designs that reflect the brand's personality, values, and visual identity.
Event Support
They assist in the coordination and execution of conferences, webinars, client-/project-related events/meetings and internal events. They make sure that all branding and marketing materials required are provided. These materials include signage, name tags, giveaways, presentations, and other resources as needed. They work closely with the business sponsor, event management team, suppliers, and other internal partners and relevant vendors to ensure the successful execution of the event.
Collaborative Work
The Marketing Design Associate collaborates closely with the greater marketing and communications team, product team, business units, and other stakeholders to develop and implement business development initiatives, strategies, and programs.
Quality Assurance
They will conduct thorough quality checks to ensure accuracy, consistency, and adherence to compliance and branding guidelines in all marketing deliverables. They have a strong attention to detail and ensure that the final pieces are error-free before deployment.
Market Research and Trend Analysis
The Marketing Design Associate stays informed about the latest trends, tools, and techniques to ensure that marketing materials remain current and visually appealing. They continually improve their skills and adapt to new practices to deliver innovative and effective marketing initiatives.
Vendor Management and Inventory Control
They manage inventory levels of branded corporate promotional materials, including monitoring stock levels, analyzing demand patterns, and forecasting future needs. They will work closely with vendors to ensure cost-effective and timely delivery of products and services. This includes negotiating contracts, evaluating quotes/proposals, and managing relationships to maintain a reliable supply chain.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education and skills:
- Proficiency in graphic design software such as Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Illustrator, Photoshop, Premiere Pro) or other industry-standard design tools
- A post-secondary education in graphic design, marketing, visual communication, or a related field
- Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite (PowerPoint, Word)
- 3-5 years professional marketing/design experience or comparable
- Knowledge of digital accessibility as specified on the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA)
- Demonstrated graphic design skills and strong foundation in marketing principles and strategies, including branding, advertising, and content creation
Attention to detail, creativity, and quality:
- Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy and consistency in marketing deliverables
- Value quality and committed to a high level of service, responsiveness, and follow-through for both internal and external stakeholders
- Able to come up with creative ideas and concepts that align with marketing objectives and brand identity
Communication and collaboration:
- Ability to collaborate and work closely with cross-functional teams, such as marketing and other business units
- Openness to receiving feedback and incorporating changes into marketing plans and designs
- Highly motivated self-starter who works well with some autonomy and little direction but also understands when and how to appropriately involve others for support
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to effectively articulate marketing concepts and ideas to team members and stakeholders
Time management and organization:
- Strong organizational skills to maintain files, assets, and design resources
- A quick learner with an intuitive mindset and excellent problem-solving skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, shift priorities as needed, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
