Associate, Infrastructure Investments Jobs

A prominent global investment management firm is expanding its infrastructure investment program and looking to hire an Associate for their deal team in Toronto. With teams in Europe and the US, the Toronto division is considered the head office for both deal execution and post-acquisition asset management. This reputable infrastructure program has established a diversified global portfolio of over 50 assets totalling over $4 billion in AUM.

This firm specializes in identifying and capitalizing on mid-market, core, and core plus infrastructure opportunities within OECD countries. Their track record speaks to their ability to consistently generate stable and attractive risk-adjusted returns for their investors. By adopting a meticulous approach to due diligence, risk management and governance, coupled with a robust asset management strategy, they have been able to construct a strategically diversified portfolio.

In light of their ambitious growth plans, our client aims to enhance its capital deployment capabilities by adding a skilled deal professional to its highly experienced team. The Associate, reporting directly to the Managing Director, will assume responsibility for sourcing, evaluating, and managing private market investments. Additionally, the successful candidate will collaborate closely with and provide support to senior investment team members in other regions, as necessary.

Responsibilities

• Assist with special projects as they arise.
• Evaluate infrastructure investment opportunities, applying business/investment judgement and analytical skills;
• Collaborate with team members to oversee the performance and operations of investments;
• Develop and operate complex financial models to evaluate and manage investments;
• Collaborate on value creation opportunities, such as refinancings, add-on acquisitions and divestitures;
• Perform due diligence and create detailed presentations on prospective investment opportunities;

Qualifications

• Strong sense of business/investment judgement.
• Desire to work in a close-knit team.
• Undergraduate degree with strong academic performance - a focus on business, finance or accounting is preferred.
• Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills.
• Experience at: (i) a top tier investment bank with a focus on M&A or corporate finance, (ii) private investment fund, or (iii) management consulting firm.
• Experience performing detailed due diligence.
• Exposure to the infrastructure sector.
• Experience in complex financial modeling of businesses, preferably infrastructure-related.
