Associate intern with Powertrust Overview

Powertrust is hiring an Associate Intern to assist the executive team in overseeing the company’s daily operations, offering critical support across the business. The Associate Intern will play a key role in helping track progress on internal and client-facing issues. As a small startup, this role will interface with all areas of the business and there will be minimal organisational structure. The position will start in the spring for a 3 month term, and there may be opportunities for extension. The position is remote, has flexible working hours, and may be part-time or full-time.

For the past two years, our team also has co-led the D-REC Initiative, a not-for-profit, multi-stakeholder, industry-led initiative to create a new market mechanism, the Distributed Renewable Energy Certificate (or D-REC). The D-REC is a form of Environmental Attribute Certificate that helps RE project developers earn additional revenue to support operating expenses, unlock additional project finance, or offer lower tariffs to their customers. When purchased by multinational corporations, D-RECs can be used to address emissions associated with their direct or indirect operations. From the project developer’s perspective, a long term D-REC contract will provide a secure long term source of revenue that has the potential to attract new sources of capital.

Responsibilities:

• Assisting in building marketing collateral, including presentations, one-pagers, whitepapers and other assets that clearly communicate our product, technology and company.
• Summarising relevant industry developments around renewable energy deployments across emerging markets
• Taking meeting minutes and organising follow ups
• Organising team calendars and coordinating meetings.
• Profiling potential client companies using public information (industry reports, financial statements, communications etc)
• Conducting research on a range of potential clients, competitors, stakeholders, renewable energy project developers and channel partners.

Required Skills and Experience

• Have a strong interest or related degree in Environmental science, sustainability, or energy.
• Experience with research and technical report writing, including data visualisation
• Strong presentation and communication skills and attention to detail
• Experience conducting online research, filtering, organising and summarising large amounts of information
• Proficiency with Microsoft office and Google Suite
• Proficient knowledge of analytic tools such as Python, Matlab or Excel
• Ability to work in an ambiguous and fast paced environment

• Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada
