Associate Director - Benefit Payments



What is the opportunity?


This role manages teams who are responsible for the accurate and timely processing of all pensioners activity and maintenance of pensioners records, in line with internal policies, client requirements as well as external regulatory requirements on behalf of Pension Plans. You are responsible for the overall management, organization and direction of the Benefit Payments operations team.


What will you do?


  • Works directly with systems and technology unit to implement system enhancements and modifications.
  • The role is responsible for increasing the operational/administrative effectiveness and cost effectiveness of the Benefit Payments operations team through a focus on increasing quality and efficiency of staff through the efficient use of performance measurement metrics, functionalization and standardization of all processes.
  • Represents the Benefit Payments operations team at client or prospective client meetings, as required, including around escalated issues
  • Develops strategic plans and procedures for managing investment risk in financial transactions.
  • Subject matter expert for transaction processing for internal contacts, such as Client /Relationship Management and other departments, as well as for clients
  • Responsible for achieving excellence in client service delivery and is wholly accountable for the results of the Benefit Payments operations team including service level results and client satisfaction
  • Ensures compliance with corporate and regulatory policies by implementing and monitoring operational processes.
  • Accountable for leadership around the overall quality and productivity of the Benefit Payments operations
  • Identify Risk areas within the team and work to minimize the potential impact.
  • Accountable for timely and accurate resolution of escalated issues related to processing
  • Exercises authority over personnel with respect to employment, supervision, training, performance appraisals, and termination.
  • Responsible for the co-ordination and upkeep of BCP for Benefit Payments.
  • Meet all required deadlines with regards to tax filing on an annual basis.
  • Provides leadership, coaching, and process improvement initiatives to improve the operational efficiency of a given investment unit.
  • Delivery of statements produced for corporate clients by specific deadlines that have been agreed to.
