Manager of Emergency Management Jobs

Review and maintain the Emergency Management Program legislative requirements under the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and O. Reg. 380/04

Provide professional, specialized skills including planning, project management, problem analysis and resolution

Bachelor's degree, preferably in Disaster & Emergency Management, Education, Public Administration, Environmental Studies or a related discipline

Working experience in Emergency Management is an asset

Instructor Level certification in the Incident Management System (IMS) preferred

Provide expert advice to various stakeholders as a subject matter expert on Emergency Management

1-3 years of relevant work experience in Emergency Management, government, public safety, consulting, or similarly related field

Complete administrative tasks as required to support Calian Emergency Management (PO’s, amendments, proposals, project plans, etc.)

Support the development of the organization’s emergency management plan (and related documents) as requested

Support the development, delivery, and evaluation of emergency management training, including exercises and other scenario-based learning events, for diverse clients

Keep Project Manager(s) apprised of any challenges or barriers to competition of assigned project tasks

Maintain effective communication with Project Manager(s) and other project team members

Have previous experience as an emergency management professional within government would be considered an asset.

Have experience writing technical documents and reports related to a wide-range of projects within the pillars of Emergency Management.

Emergency Management Plan Reviews and Revisions/Rewrites

Have strong written and verbal communication skills.

Business Continuity experience and professional designations, such as an ABCP or CBCP, would be considered an asset.

French language skills would be an asset.

Provides technical information and compliance requirements, to Metrolinx, regarding Emergency Management, its policies, programs, plans and standards.

Minimum four (4) years of experience creating, organizing, and delivering effective technical emergency management policies, programs and plans.

Plans, organizes, performs, and documents emergency management/incident response audits with enterprise-wide application.

Provides advice and peer support for business continuity programs, disaster recovery, and continuity of operations.

Develops emergency preparedness information and content for the website and other internal and external publications.

Willingness to become a Provincially certified IMS 200/300 Instructor.

Expert knowledge of Incident Command System and all Emergency Management Standards, (CSA, ISO etc) required.

Demonstrated project and time management skills with ability to prioritize as required.

Provide support to the Senior Director, Emergency Management on the allocation and use of resources to achieve strategic objectives.

Build regular reports on activities, indicators and outcomes related to Emergency Management.

Responsible for the overall development, implementation, management and auditing of the university's Emergency Management Program.

A combination of education and experience may be considered.

Work with Information Management to collect, analyze and present critical information internally and externally as required by operational needs.

Conduct concise and timely briefings with the PDCT on current operations and developments.

Coordinate operational planning with the PDCT Lead, function leads and relevant staff, including planning meetings as part of the operational cycle.

Work with PDCT functions to ensure that they are properly prepared to fulfill their respective support roles within operations.

During a response, monitor situations outside the current response that could disrupt the response itself or simultaneous operations.

Fluency in French and English is required.

Recognized emergency management, business continuity, or risk management certification an asset

Minimum of five (5) years progressive experience and responsibility in fields directly related to emergency management or business continuity

Provide direct response to emergencies on all SAIT campuses and participate as a member Emergency Management Response Team (EMRT)

Contribute to risk management strategies, including pandemic preparedness, business continuity and the SAIT Travel Risk Advisory Program

Review current research and keep up to date on new trends, issues, practices, and policies regarding emergency management

Diploma or degree in Emergency Management or degree in a related field required

Demonstrated knowledge and/or experience in the health care system.

Strong interpersonal and teambuilding skills.

Demonstrated understanding of group process and experience resolving complex multi-stakeholder issues.

Strong written and oral communication skills.

Experience with financial analysis of operating budgets would be an asset.

Demonstrated leadership ability in complex and highly changeable situations.

Completion of Post-secondary education in emergency management and/or business continuity planning;

Considerable supervisory experience, preferably in a unionized work environment;

Experience presenting to and facilitating groups of stakeholders and leading committees/meetings while building strong partnerships with stakeholders; and

Recent experience managing an organization’s response to an emergency or serious occupational health and safety incident.

Modeling Interpersonal Skills and Personal Responsibility

Completion of Incident Command System training (minimum level 200, or above);

Knowledge of Ontario's emergency management legislation, regulations, plans, and general emergency management best practices

Knowledge of Guelph’s Emergency Management Plan

Knowledge of provincial and federal emergency management (EM) related programs which support municipal emergency management

Have completed the course IMS-100 Introduction to Incident Management Systems, Emergency Management Ontario

Have completed the course EM-125 Exercise Programs – An Introduction, Emergency Management Ontario

Currently enrolled in graduate studies in Emergency Management, Planning or Development

Project management experience with a focus on scheduling and budgeting

Previous Facilities Security experience specific to administration, Emergency Management and Disaster Recovery, system design/technology

Working knowledge of the Ontario Building Code, Ontario Fire Code, and Accessibility of Ontarians with Disabilities Act

Report results and recommended actions regarding performance management audits and measured KPIs to Manager, Special Portfolios

Become a Facilities Specialist, Security and Emergency Management - Temporary Assignment up to 18 Months

A minimum of four years of relevant experience required to include a minimum of two years emergency management or continuity experience.

Experience with program management is required.

Certified Emergency Manager or comparable state emergency management certification is preferred.

Develop, facilitate and evaluate emergency management and continuity exercises for both the Systemwide Emergency Support Team and campus EOC teams.

Manage and facilitate systemwide emergency management and continuity training courses and webinars.

Experience with higher education institutions preferred.

Assists in ensuring that the Region meets the mandatory requirements of the Emergency Management and Civil Protection Act and Regulations.

 Demonstrated knowledge of emergency management program development, applicable legislation and industry standards, disaster exercise initiatives and current emergency management practices.

Knowledge of and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer service, communication, team work, initiative/self management and accountability, and flexibility/adaptability.

Management competencies including results/achievement focus, human resources management, leadership, financial management, business planning, decision making/judgement, representation and professionalism and job knowledge.

Analyzes demographic data and recommends changes to the Emergency Management Program to meet Regional community needs.

Evaluates the Emergency Management Program, participates in exercises and follow-up debriefing processes.

Allocate the acquiring manager’s time effectively by planning, scheduling, and coordinating the acquiring manager’s activities, according to previously set standards.

Post-secondary education in Office Administration or any business-related discipline, an asset

3 years emergency management experience, preferable in healthcare;

Certifications in Incident Management/Command Systems and Exercise Design;

Project management experience is an asset;
