Position Overview
The Junior Emergency Management Analyst supports project teams in supporting emergency management projects across the five phases of emergency management: Prevention, Mitigation, Preparation, Response, and Recovery.
Additionally, the Junior Emergency Management Analyst assists with development and delivery of emergency management exercises of all sizes and scopes, supporting the development of scenarios, injects, learning materials, evaluation tools, and related reports. This position works as a member of a high-functioning team to build relationships with clients and develop products and deliverables that satisfy their project objectives and emergency management needs.
Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation of systems and methods, internally, to help increase organization and efficiency for the Emergency Management team, including helping to develop templates, playbooks, filing systems, project tracking tools, and similar
  • Support other Business areas as required (ie. Nuclear for large nuclear exercises, Commercialization for EM events and trade shows)
  • Support the development of the organization’s emergency management plan (and related documents) as requested
  • Contribute ideas to support the planning for these projects
  • Support the development, delivery, and evaluation of emergency management training, including exercises and other scenario-based learning events, for diverse clients
  • Complete administrative tasks as required to support Calian Emergency Management (PO’s, amendments, proposals, project plans, etc.)
  • Keep Project Manager(s) apprised of any challenges or barriers to competition of assigned project tasks
  • Maintain effective communication with Project Manager(s) and other project team members
  • Complete technical work assigned by the project team, including:
  • Work collaboratively with other project team members to support and develop relationships with stakeholders and clients including government agencies, community groups, employees, volunteers and private organizations
Qualifications
  • Ability to work effectively as a member of a remote-work team, and to demonstrate time management in prioritizing and completing assigned tasks within a defined timeframe
  • Strong computer skills, including experience working with Microsoft Office Suite to perform word processing, document formatting, spreadsheets, and other similar business functions
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, and ability to read and write fluently in English (French would be considered an assest)
  • Strong administrative skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to develop positive relationships with different stakeholders, embracing Calian’s commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusivity
  • 1-3 years of relevant work experience in Emergency Management, government, public safety, consulting, or similarly related field
  • An undergraduate degree, from a recognized post-secondary institution, in a related field of study (such as: Emergency Management, Disaster and Emergency Studies, Emergency Services, etc.)
Additional Requirements
  • This position may require some occasional travel depending on the requirements of the assigned project work
  • This position requires the successful candidate to possess or be able to obtain a Canadian Government level Security Clearance at the Secret or Reliability level
