As part of the Rogers Communications Network Management and Operations department, the candidate will provide platform and system level support on the Rogers Radio Access Networks which include 5G NR, LTE, UMTS/HSPA and GSM technologies. The position requires in-depth knowledge of Wireless Access Network platforms and associated end-to-end service flows from 2G to 5G. Additionally, understanding of Cloud Domain is required to support the Cloud RAN implementation. The candidate will work closely with cross-functional project teams and will be a key contributor to projects affecting the Wireless Access Operations.
What You Will Be Doing

• Provide support to Field Operations, NOC and various Engineering teams for issue resolution and assist the teams during emergency recovery of Critical network issues.
• Responsible for handling escalations and able to work after hours as required.
• Own Problem Management process for unresolved network issues and work directly with vendors and external groups to formulate solutions to technical issues.
• Assist the Field Operations groups based on industry/vendor best practices for Operation & Maintenance of 5G NR, LTE, UMTS/HSPA and GSM platforms.
• Investigate to resolve 4G/5G Core signalling & support issues, contribute to work around and resolution, collaborate with Vendors and Engineering to identify and rectify the root cause of network issues.
• Provide Guidelines, best practices documentation, dispatch guidelines and liaise with Technology/Engineering/vendors for recommendations and technical guidelines.
• Operationalize Emerging Technologies and contribute to the creation of process and procedures/troubleshooting documentation for emerging Wireless Access technologies like Cloud RAN, 5G NR, IoT etc.
• Assist with the automation of preventive and corrective routines/procedures for RAN network.
• Some traveling will be required
• Perform end to end investigation of faults/cause related to system/network issues

What You Have

• University Degree in Computer Science, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Telecommunication is preferred
• Strong knowledge of SAP Business Suite of tools, Ericsson MoShell Scripting, Scripting languages (Perl, Shell, Python) for automation.
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently with minimal supervision
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Solid understanding of the OSI and TCP/IP model
• Three to five years of experience in the telecommunications industry with at least three years of field experience on LTE, UMTS/HSPA and GSM Radio Access Networks.
• Hands-on experience and knowledge of Ericsson AXE/CPP platforms, Ericsson Evo RNC, BSC, gNodeB, eNodeB, NodeB and GSM RBS is required.
• Availability to work off-hours and on a rotating on-call schedule.
• Good understanding of 3GPP specifications and RAN protocols, ability to perform in depth protocol analysis and troubleshoot problems on 5G NR, LTE, UMTS and GSM interfaces.
• Good understanding of Small cell and C-RAN architecture, 5G NR architecture and radio propagation principles (High/Low bands, mmWave).
• Knowledge of 5G NR, LTE, UMTS/HSPA and GSM KPIs, counters, definitions of optimization parameters and their impact on network performance.
• Knowledge of cloud-based infrastructure (Compute, VMware NSX & Networking), software orchestration & automation
